Daily Inspiration: Meet Sarah Inamdar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Inamdar.

Sarah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Mama.llama.cooks was never created with the intention of being a business page. It all started during the lockdown when I was trying out new recipes and sharing them with my two sisters who then suggested I start a food photography page on Instagram. When I told my husband about it, he was thrilled and said he would love to see me start it. My husband and my three lovely children are my biggest inspiration, motivation and support for me to be successful in my journey. They are the most honest critics one can imagine. Their unbiased feedback has made me a better cook, a better recipe creator and recipe stylist.
Once the page was created and the pictures were uploaded, I had an overwhelming response. Brand offers started coming in and that’s when I decided to switch it to a business account. I am glad I did it and it’s been an amazing experience ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a recipe creator/recipe stylist/food photographer demands a tremendous amount of creativity, brainstorming, multiple trials, exploring innovative styling techniques, a lot of time and immense patience.
Sometimes doing all this takes a longer time than I expected and it can become overwhelming. I believe that my work should be enjoyable, nourishing and fulfilling. If I am exhausted and unmotivated then I may not be able to deliver good results. So, to overcome such obstacles, I take a short break from the process. I plan a coffee/lunch date with my friends, invite them over for tea, or maybe spend a simple staycation with the family for a relaxing, refreshing and fun time to ease my mind and body. I can then restart my work with a fresh perspective of the tasks.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a second bachelor’s degree in education. I think my educational background has taught me to be artistic and creative. I am a teacher by profession and I think it has always encouraged me to think outside the box and stay optimistic and creative in my learning.
For all my brand advertising assignments, I try to give it my best to create a unique, creative and fun experience. I take each assignment as a challenge and stay focused and consistent throughout to ensure that I create an impactful work.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Even though I have been cooking for nearly 25 years now, it must come as a shock rather than a surprise to you that I never enjoyed cooking much until I started mama.llama.cooks. Creating this page was the best decision I have ever made because it changed my entire perspective towards cooking. The more I started researching, experimenting and learning about spices, cooking techniques, tricks and tips, creating a recipe from scratch was immensely satisfying and rewarding. My cooking journey has improved my skills tenfold.
