An Inspired Chat with Krystal Wagner of Southeast Dallas.

Krystal Wagner shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Krystal , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, i tend to find the most joy when I’ve created free time to spend with my children. I have 2 boys and they mean everything to me. It’s easy to get wrapped up in a day to day living including work and such and that itself takes away from the Work-Life balance. I look forward to those off days simply because i am completely hands on with my children.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Krystal Wagner, owner of HairByKryzStylz and I am a local hairstylist in Dallas TX! I specialize in mutiple styles including protective styles like natural locs, soft locs, butterfly, and boho styles. I also specialize in installs including Traditional, versatile, closure installs, sleek styles and more. One of my main services includes custom wigs or units. Everything custom is made upon order and that is the Key. Custom is Custom and i love to Cater to the need of every single individual that sits in my chair. I enjoy using my Talents to fix the crown ( Hair) of anyone interested in my services. This is my bread and butter and i work very hard to make sure that business is smooth sailing. In the midst of experiencing working in shops, my main goal and priority is to open my own shop in the near future. I want to be able to extend great opportunities to others with my talents. This is just the beginning.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly between my self teaching and actually hands on experience with all types of work, both scenarios have taught me the most about work. Everyone is an individual and should be treated as such so it really helps when using experiences as a teaching mechanism. Also, my personal constructive criticism also play an even part.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There was a time where it seemed so simple to give up versus pushing myself to continue and work harder. Having chilren in the midst of building yourself and life, it can sometimes be viewed as not only a delay but a reason to stop. I waited 7-8 years to have my second child and it was also within a time where my business was doing so well. After giving birth, i found it quite challenging to not only work but have the energy to keep going. I am happy to speak on this matter because it actually shows me that i did not give up on my dreams.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
The person i am in public is the same person i am in private. I strive to keep my good character and positivity no matter the day, time, or circumstance. I am happy and honored to know that my clients feel the same. I am always being told this within my work reviews and also face to face.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If i knew that i only had 10 years left, i would immediately stop doubting myslef. I tend to doubt myself in slight fear which could lead to missed opportunities and business relationships.
