We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kristi Kennebrew. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Kristi, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
You know what I think people are secretly struggling with, but rarely say out loud? The fear that their worth has become tied to a job title, a brand name, or a company that was never meant to define them in the first place.
I can’t tell you how many job seekers come to me whispering the same story: They got laid off from a big tech company… and they haven’t told their families yet. Not only because they’re ashamed of the layoff, but because their families were so proud of them for “making it” that they don’t know how to separate their identity from the logo on their badge.
And that breaks my heart every time.
This quiet crisis is more common than people realize. Many workers are privately wrestling with the fear that losing a job means losing a piece of themselves. They worry about disappointing loved ones, or about no longer being seen as successful without the prestige of a well‑known company behind them.
But here’s what I remind them: a company can restructure, a company can lay you off, but it cannot take your talent, your story, or your value. People are struggling silently, but they don’t have to struggle alone. Not when they have community, support, and the courage to rewrite their story on their own terms. You are great, you are valuable & you WILL get hired again!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
“Get Me Hired Kristi! Okay I Got You!”
I’m Kristi Kennebrew, the founder of Get Me Hired Kristi, where career empowerment, storytelling, and strategy come together to help people get seen, get hired, and step confidently into their next chapter. My brand is a digital classroom powered by community — a space where professionals learn to articulate who they are, what they bring, and why it matters.
At the heart of my work is a commitment to awareness, visibility, and access. I help job seekers understand the landscape, I spotlight opportunities they may not know exist, and I open doors through resources, partnerships, and strategic guidance. I’ve built personal brands for professionals across industries, helping them transform their lived experiences into narratives that resonate with employers and audiences alike.
What makes my work unique is that it’s rooted in real life, gratitude, resilience, and the belief that everyone has a story worth amplifying. I don’t teach from a podium; I teach from the journey. And right now, I’m expanding that mission through collaborations with organizations that champion unconventional teaching paths and content designed to support job seekers during some of the most challenging seasons of their careers.
Everything I create is driven by one mission: to help people feel seen, supported, and empowered to rewrite their own narrative. Your story is your superpower! I’m just here to help you tell it with clarity and confidence.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was the day a job seeker reached out and told me they were making the most money they had ever made in their life. All because of a job I posted. They told me they would’ve never even seen that opportunity if I hadn’t shared it.
That moment changed everything for me. It made me realize that power isn’t about being the loudest in the room; it’s about creating access. It’s about visibility. It’s about opening a door someone didn’t even know existed and watching them walk through it with confidence.
That message reminded me that my work isn’t just about jobs, it’s about transformation. It’s about shifting someone’s entire trajectory with one post, one resource, one moment of connection. And that’s when I knew… this is my purpose. This is my power.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There was definitely a moment when I almost gave up. When the algorithms shifted on LinkedIn and other social platforms, my engagement dropped overnight. After pouring so much heart into Get Me Hired Kristi, it was hard not to take it personally. I started questioning my voice, my impact, and honestly, my worth as a creator and career educator.
But then I had to remind myself of something deeper: I didn’t build this platform for an algorithm. I built it for job seekers who needed clarity, confidence, and someone who speaks their language. The messages from people who landed interviews, negotiated better roles, or avoided scams because of my content & that’s what pulled me back. That’s when I realized my value isn’t tied to reach or metrics. My work matters because it changes lives, not because it trends.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what really matters to me is creating opportunity! Not just for myself, but for everyone connected to me. They’d tell you I’m a hustler in the best way, always looking for the next door to open, the next resource to share, the next chance to help someone in my job seeker community move forward. I genuinely want us all to win, and I don’t believe in keeping opportunities to myself. If we don’t look out for each other, who will. That’s the heart behind Get Me Hired Kristi, making sure people feel seen, supported, and equipped to build the futures they deserve.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people tell the story of someone who showed up for others with intention, consistency, and heart. Someone who didn’t just teach people how to get hired, but helped them believe they were worthy of the opportunities they were chasing. I want people to know that I did everything I could to make sure underrepresented talent had access to life‑changing opportunities. I shared every resource I knew of, every tool, every strategy, and there was never any gatekeeping. I hope they say I used my voice to make the job search less confusing, less lonely, and less predatory for the people who needed clarity the most. And more than anything, I hope they say I built a community where people felt seen, supported, and capable of creating a future they once thought was out of reach.
