An Inspired Chat with Kaitlyn YOunh

Kaitlyn YOunh shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Kaitlyn, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I am most proud of building is me.

People see the business growth. They see momentum, expansion, and results. What they do not see is the daily work happening behind the scenes. The internal work. The discipline. The choices I make when no one is watching.

I have rebuilt my relationship with my higher power. That connection grounds me. It gives me clarity when things feel loud and direction when the path feels uncertain. I do not separate that from my work. It shapes how I lead, how I make decisions, and how I show up.

I am also deeply proud of the work I am doing with my health. Losing weight has not been about numbers. It has been about self-trust, consistency, and learning how to care for my body instead of fighting it. That process has required honesty, patience, and a level of commitment that mirrors entrepreneurship in many ways.

As the business grows, I am intentionally growing the person behind it. Getting clear on the vision I am building. Strengthening my mindset. Becoming someone who can hold what I am creating without losing herself in the process.

That version of success does not always show up on social media. But it is the foundation everything else stands on.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kaitlyn Young, and I am the Founder and CEO of Social Media Doctor LLC. I moved to North Dallas about a year ago, but I have been building this company from the ground up for the past four years.

I started with no safety net. I went from being a Walmart employee with no money to my name to running a thriving agency with eight employees. Today, we help some of the most recognizable brands in the area grow and scale their online presence in a way that actually reflects who they are.

I got into social media and brand building because everything started to look the same. Cookie-cutter graphics. Copy-and-paste formulas. Then AI entered the picture, and instead of helping brands connect, it pushed many further away from authenticity. What we are seeing now is a clear shift. People want human connection again. They want to know there are real people behind the logo, the business, and the message.

That is where Social Media Doctor comes in. We help businesses, business coaches, and established brands grow by showing the heart of who they are. We focus on what makes them different, what they stand for, and why their audience should care. We pair that authenticity with proven strategies that work for each specific industry.

We are very selective about who we work with. That is intentional. It allows us to stay aligned with our clients and deliver real results, not surface-level growth.

My journey here has been shaped by mentors, coaches, and masterminds who pushed me to think bigger and lead better. Being in rooms with people who raise the bar has transformed more than my business. It has changed my life. I am more connected to the people who matter most to me because I lead and live as myself.

We work with seven, eight, and nine-figure businesses because trust matters at that level. I never ask a client to show up in a way I am not willing to show up myself. That standard is what defines our brand, and it is why our clients stay.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Katherine Tague saw me clearly before I could see myself.

She stood up for me in rooms where people thought they knew my story but did not. She spoke for me when I did not yet have the confidence to speak for myself. More than that, she guided and mentored me in ways no one else ever has.

Katherine is the reason I developed belief in myself. She showed me what I was capable of when doubt was louder than clarity. She helped me move through fear and lock into the life I always knew was possible, not just for me, but for the people I felt called to help.

She saw me at rock bottom. She was there when I almost lost everything. And she has stayed present through the rebuilding, the growth, and the creation of a life and business I am genuinely proud of today.

Because of her, I have a life that allows me to be present with my husband, my animals, and the people who matter most to me. Katherine and her family have become family to me, because she gave me belief, support, and steadiness when I could not give those things to myself.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, absolutely.

If entrepreneurs are honest, most of us have had multiple moments where things felt overwhelming enough to walk away. The difference is not that those moments do not happen. The difference is choosing to get back up when they do.

For me, that moment came about three years ago. I was kicked out of a mastermind after a misunderstanding, and I truly believed I had blown my one chance to create the life I wanted. I thought I had ruined everything. That belief sent me into a spiral of self-sabotage. I was overeating, disconnecting, and slowly tearing myself down. If I destroyed myself, I thought I could not give myself hope.

What changed was the people around me. They helped me see the pattern I was stuck in and called me forward when I could not do it alone. I began doing the real work. Dialing in my mindset. Setting boundaries. Rebuilding belief in my own capabilities. Taking ownership of the power I was born with and acknowledging that I had allowed others to take it from me by giving it away.

That season taught me extreme ownership. No one was coming to save me. I had to decide that quitting was not an option. I kept going, not because it was easy, but because I refused to let that moment define the rest of my life.

Have there been times I almost gave up? Yes. More than one. What matters is what you choose to do in those moments. I chose to keep getting back up.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me.

I can say that with confidence because authenticity is the foundation of my business. I have seen too many brands show up one way online and be completely different in person. That disconnect creates a gap in trust and integrity, and I promised myself early on that I would never build something that way.

If you see a photo of me online, it is me. It is not AI. If you read a post I have written, it comes from my real life or a real situation in my business. I do not make up stories, statistics, or experiences. I only share what is actually happening or what I have lived through.

That commitment has evolved over the years, but the standard has stayed the same. I show the wins, the lessons, and the moments where things did not go as planned. When I share challenges, it is not from an open wound. It is from a place of reflection, responsibility, and growth. This happened. This is how I handled it. This is what I learned.

I take a lot of pride in that approach because it is bigger than me. I want other business owners and entrepreneurs to see that they do not have to hide who they are to be respected or successful. You do not have to be perfect. You can show your quirks, your mistakes, and your humanity, as long as you show how you take ownership and make things right.

In a world filled with filters, automation, and AI-generated personalities, authenticity matters more than ever. When people meet me in person, there is no adjustment period. What they see online is who they get. That consistency builds trust, and it creates connection.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I have thought about this a lot.

When people look back on my life, I hope they say that I led with heart. That I cared deeply. That I gave my full effort to the people, the work, and the relationships entrusted to me.

I did not always get it right the first time. But when I showed back up, I made sure I delivered at a higher level. I want to be remembered as someone people felt comfortable around. Someone they trusted. Someone who felt real.

In business, I hope people remember that I was not just another marketer trying to take their money. I was a partner. I stood beside them. I cared about their growth, their wins, and the weight they were carrying. I wanted them to succeed because it mattered, not because it benefited me.

But I hope my legacy reaches far beyond business.

I want people to say that I never gave up, and that because of that, they believed they could keep going too. That my story gave them permission to be themselves. That it reminded them they could survive hard seasons, build something meaningful, and show up honestly even when it felt uncomfortable.

If there is one story I hope people tell, it is this. She kept going. No matter how hard it got, no matter how much life hit her head-on, she kept moving forward. And she did it with integrity, honesty, and genuine care for the people around her.
