We recently had the chance to connect with Raymesha Thompson and have shared our conversation below.
Raymesha , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Who are you learning from right now?
Currently I’m literally learning from everyone around me; that includes family, friends, strangers, customers even children are great teachers. There’s always people multiple perspectives going through situations dealing with everyday life. I don’t ever judge a book by its cover. I’m a very open minded person.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is RAYMESHA you might know me as MESHA,MESHA2HELL or PRESSURE. I’m the owner of Addictive Pleasures Llc and a music artist. I must say it hasn’t been an easy ride but I thank god for it and the support I have received. I was previously in the corporate world for about 8-9 years, then decided to invest in myself and make a change that hopefully would improve my life and start the foundation for my family. Life always reveals people true colors and some people change, even sometimes grow along the way and that’s ok. I just trust god, stay positive and focus on putting one foot in front of the other as I accomplish my long and short term goals. I accept that what’s for me will always be and what isn’t god will remove. It’s easy to misunderstand and judge others so I just hope I can inspire people to be themselves and remember no one is perfect but at the same time you were perfectly made. God makes no mistakes and life is a gift; it’s up to you what you make of it. So live, love and laugh!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I would say the first time I traveled. It was for an offshore project at my job during that time across the country and I was scared. I had so many worries and it was my first time flying. I wondered “ what if something happens to the plane”?, “ what if I can’t deliver on their expectations of me”?, “what if something happens to me and I have no one to call on”?. However, at the same time I was excited and more motivated than ever. I met new friends. I networked in my spare time. I even found time to party a little and participated in the Cumi Cum charity walk for the donation to the charity for the mentally ill. I just had to keep faith and apply myself. I not only delivered I exceeded their expectations and was offered a promotion in management. I was beyond grateful for the experience and for believing in me!
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely, after I started my business and taking music seriously it seemed like everything was going wrong. I moved out my apartment and quit my job. My business slowed down. I had to move in with a loved one while I try to get myself together and possibly get a new job. The jealousy in others grew I was having to defend myself against false accusations and even was falsely accused by the police. I haven’t been able to get a job in 3 years and it has been hard building clientele. However, I trust god and I know he wouldn’t put more on me than I can handle. This is something I built from scratch and I won’t ever give up on myself. Why else would I be getting attacked so bad if I didn’t have something worth protecting. I believe in me and I know god has my back.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! You don’t ever fully know someone because they are always growing and changing everyday based on their experiences. There are different layers to me and to know me is to love me. You see what I choose to show you. I want people to see that I am exactly what my experiences have made me and an opinion is like a but hole; everyone has one and I ain’t ever gave a F*** this my life.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m around genuine love and by myself. Self love and self care is very important to me and I feel it’s needed when healing.
