Hi Megan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for the beauty industry started in high school. I was always playing around with different forms of makeup and that slowly bled into my interest for skincare. It started as a hobby that I never realized could turn into a career. The esthetics industry always felt like a very specific niche that i didn’t feel like I quite fit into. I was in a career that I didn’t feel very passionate about, but it was a steady job and I had been working there for quite some time, so it almost felt like I was stuck. During this time, I met another esthetician who started talking to me about their career, and it helped me discover I could use my passion to help others feel beautiful in their own skin. I started looking into schools and options in the DFW area and decided to make the jump, quit my full time job and went straight into full time beauty school. It was a really fun journey, I met a lot of great people and learned so much from. I worked really hard after graduation to take the leap into opening my own solo suite, Golden Moon Esthetics, LLC.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely started bumpy. Going solo quickly after graduation is very frowned upon. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, and new esthi’s can lose motivation fast. Right off the bat it’s a lot of networking and spending money, and it was pretty rough. I was lucky enough to have a lot of support behind me between my family and friends, and they kept me motivated through the process. I toured numerous suites before finally landing on the one i’m in now.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I offer a multitude of services! I specialize in facials and lash lifts, focusing on enhancing my clients natural beauty. my facials range from 30 minutes to 90 minutes, and they are all customized to each client specifically, so everyone’s goals can be met. I also offer facial & select body waxing, as well as back facials. I also offer a few different enhancements that can be added to each service to boost treatments and relaxation. I’m really proud of the environment i’ve created for my clients. I really like to offer results driven services while still providing a relaxing experience, and I feel i’ve found a good balance in that. I want everyone to leave my space feeling confident and calm.
What makes you happy?
In my business, seeing my clients feeling good about themselves makes me so happy. So many people come to me after seeing other estheticians who have been unable to help them, and put their trust into me. I have always wanted to help people, in any way I could, and getting to help people feel beautiful makes me happier than anything I could’ve imagined.
