Jasmine Ohen’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jasmine Ohen. Check out our conversation below.

Jasmine, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me right now looks very different than it did a year ago. It’s filled with newborn cuddles, baby giggles, and yes—plenty of spit-up along the way. I’m learning to embrace the rhythm of rest and reflection in between the busy moments. This season has been such a reminder of God’s kindness. I have learned that even in the messiness, there’s so much joy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jasmine, and my heart has always been for connection. I’ve spent years creating spaces and experiences that help women make friends, grow in community, and find joy in showing up as their authentic selves. Through my brand, Women in Dallas, I host everything from friendship mixers to pop-up events- large or small—all of it is designed to take the awkwardness out of making friends as an adult. We create friendship without the fuss.

What makes my work special is that it’s not just about events and community amplification—it’s about building a culture of friendship and belonging. We make this big city feel small. Right now, I’m also embracing the new role of motherhood while running my business, which has given me an even deeper appreciation for the importance of having a strong, supportive community around you.

I’m grateful to have an amazing support system as I continue growing Women in Dallas as a new cohort member of the Dallas Mavericks MBA program—and as a new mom.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
For most of my life, I’ve been the planner, the one who always thought ahead and prepared for every scenario. It felt secure, like I could control the outcomes if I just mapped things out well enough. But motherhood has been humbling—it’s shown me that my planning, while useful, was really an illusion of control. What I’m learning now is to take each day as it comes and to trust God in a fresh way. He made me a visionary and a thinker about the future, but His desire is that I would lean on Him, not on my gifts. At the end of the day, His goal isn’t for me to be a better version of myself, but more like Jesus.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has been where my roots go deep. It’s the place where you find out what you really turn to, and for me, that’s been God. Success is defined differently for everyone, and some people might even feel like they’ve never touched it. But suffering? That’s universal. In the valleys, I’ve learned more about God’s presence and His faithfulness than I ever have on the mountaintops. He really is who He says He is—He’ll never leave me or forsake me. And while He doesn’t always take me out of the storm, He never leaves me to face it alone. For me, success isn’t about accolades; it’s about accepting that life is hard, but I can do hard things through Him. Without Him, all the other definitions of success mean nothing.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The belief I hold onto, no matter what, is that God is good. No matter what project I get to be part of or start, I never want the outcomes to be my internal driver. My north star is the deeper truth that even in the midst of uncertainty or unfavorable outcomes, God is still good. I’ve not only believed it—I’ve seen it proven in my life over and over again. With everything in me, I’ve seen it be the most real and sustaining truth of my life.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
My faith. Strip me of everything—my name, roles, or possessions—and what will remain is my faith in Jesus. Period.
