We recently had the chance to connect with Ta’Nya Thurmond and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ta’Nya , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Im being called to become a makeup artist.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Ta’Nya Thurmond, a 23-year-old entrepreneur from Fort Worth, Texas, and the CEO of Charm Attention Boutique. I started my brand with a vision to create beauty products that truly represent and flatter women of all complexions.
Charm Attention Boutique offers a full range of cosmetics—from lip glosses and lip sculptors to setting sprays and skincare items like our lip scrub kit. My goal is to provide high-quality, inclusive products that make women feel confident, beautiful, and bossed up.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My father taught me what work really means. Seeing him pivot over the years and grow in the areas he invested his time and energy in left a lasting impression on me.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I used to struggle with the fear of not being liked. That people-pleasing mindset made me shrink myself and led to identity issues. As I’ve grown, I realized that no matter how good your heart is, someone will still misunderstand you — and I’ve learned to accept that. I’m okay with being seen as the villain in someone else’s story because I know my intentions, my character, and my growth. I can’t stay stuck trying to manage other people’s opinions while trying to move forward in life.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say I’m deeply committed to personal growth and building generational wealth. Everything I do is about growth, legacy, and long-term vision.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in my solitude—especially when I’m listening to music or spending time near water.
