Inspiring Conversations with Tejiri Ojaruega of VitalHealth-Prosper

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tejiri Ojaruega.

Hi Tejiri , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started in healthcare by taking the long route from learning and understanding the basic needs of patients. That foundation was the building block for my clinical skills and confidence through nursing and advanced practice. Over time, I noticed a pattern where many patients were not lacking motivation, they were lacking genuine care, support, and clarity. A plan that fit real life.

Preventive care felt rushed, chronic conditions were often managed reactively, and weight and hormone concerns were frequently minimized or treated with shame instead of strategy.

That is what ultimately led me to create VitalHealth–Prosper. I wanted to build a clinic where patients feel heard, educated, and empowered. Where we focus on the full picture: labs, lifestyle, sustainable weight management, and long-term risk reduction, not quick fixes. Today, I’m grateful to care for individuals and families across the North-Dallas area and across Texas.

I am excited to continue to grow a practice centered on practical medicine, patient education, and relationships with the one goal of “lasting health and longevity.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a completely smooth road, and I think that’s true for most people building something meaningful. Starting and growing a practice comes with a steep learning curve. Learning balancing patient care with the realities of running a business. It is a continuous season of long hours, tight budgets, and the pressure of wearing every hat at once: clinician, operations, marketing, compliance, and customer service.

One of the bigger challenges was building trust and visibility in a new market. You can provide excellent care, but people still have to find you, understand what you offer, and feel confident choosing you.

Another struggle was resisting the urge to do too much too fast like adding services, building systems, and trying to meet every need immediately. I have learned that sustainable growth requires focus, strong processes, and the right support team.

Through all of it, I have stayed anchored and continue ti choose this dream of creating a space where patients feel heard and supported, and where care is proactive and personalized. The obstacles forced me to become more strategic, more resilient, and more committed to doing things the right way no matter how long it takes.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about VitalHealth-Prosper?

Patients often tell us they feel heard, empowered, and clear on next steps—especially if they’ve felt dismissed elsewhere. We focus on safe, evidence-based care, consistent follow-up, and removing shame from conversations around weight and overall health.

I am most proud that our brand represents trust, warmth, and quality care where taking the first step toward better health feels simple and supported.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was naturally driven and observant, quiet in new spaces at first, but very focused once I knew what I wanted. I have always been a planner and a problem-solver, the type who likes to understand the “why” behind things and figure out how to make them better. I also had a strong sense of responsibility early on, which is part of what pulled me toward healthcare.

Interest-wise, I was drawn to anything connected to growth and self-improvement, learning, personal development, and building skills that could create real opportunities. I loved encouraging people and being the one others could depend on, but I also valued independence and discipline. Looking back, that combination of compassion and high standards is the same energy I bring into my work today: supportive, but intentional, and always focused on helping people move forward.
