Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Kayode.
Hi victoria, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started doing nails as a way to stay productive, and over time, with consistent practice and personal investment, I took a leap of faith and opened an Instagram page for my nail work on January 22, 2023. I have always had a love for beauty. I originally started with hair, then gradually moved into nails as a hobby. As I practiced on friends, family, and people around me, I began to realize this could be more than just something I did for fun.
My passion for nails slowly grew into a business. I practiced almost every day, spent a lot of time at the nail supply store, and continuously watched tutorials on TikTok and Instagram to improve my skills. With time, I started taking my work more seriously. What once felt like a hobby became something I truly cared about and wanted to grow.
Today, I run my business with passion, intention, creativity, and care. I am constantly learning, investing in myself, and pushing myself to grow, not only as a nail tech, but as an individual and a business owner. Being a nail tech has taught me patience, understanding, and time management. My goal is to provide quality service while building genuine connections with my clients and continuing to expand my brand in meaningful ways. In the next five to ten years, I hope to own my own salon and see VNAILEDIT grow into a global brand.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, my biggest struggles were building clientele, retaining clients, and perfecting my shaping and application. There were moments where it felt discouraging, but I stayed committed to improving. I practiced consistently, studied other nail techs’ techniques, and spent time learning through tutorials and hands on experience.
Over time, my skills and confidence grew, and so did my clientele. Today, I am proud to have loyal clients who book with me consistently. Those early challenges taught me patience, discipline, and the importance of trusting the process, and they continue to motivate me as I grow my business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about V Nailed it?
V Nailed It is a nail business focused on clean work, creativity, and making clients feel comfortable and confident. I offer custom nail sets and take pride in paying attention to detail, making sure each set fits the client’s style.
What sets my brand apart is the care I put into every set and every appointment. I take my time, focus on precision, and never rush my work. I am most proud of building a brand rooted in consistency, growth, and client trust. V Nailed It is more than nails. It is about creating a comfortable, elevated experience while building real connections and continuing to grow my craft.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice is to invest in good products, even if they are a bit expensive. Quality products help you create better sets and build confidence in your work. Practice as much as you can and try different techniques and designs. Clients love a versatile nail tech.
Do not compare yourself to other nail techs. Everyone starts from scratch, even the people you look up to. Most importantly, make sure you have passion for it or find your motivation. If you treat it as just a way to make money, it is easy to lose motivation, but when you genuinely care about your craft, growth will come.
