Community Highlights: Meet Neelou Saleh of Spirit of Lotus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neelou Saleh.

Hi Neelou, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my first healing business in 2011 during a period of complete personal reinvention. I was newly divorced, a single mom to two children, recently bankrupt, and starting over with no safety net, no savings, no backup plan. On paper, I had every reason to NOT start a business — but something inside was pulling me so strongly towards it that I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.

My path to this work began much earlier. As a teenager, I struggled with emotional overwhelm and a deep sense of longing I didn’t understand. A powerful spiritual experience at sixteen shifted something fundamental in me and opened the door to understanding healing beyond the physical level. That moment sparked a lifelong exploration of holistic and energy-based healing, meditation, and self-awareness.

After years of personal growth — navigating early motherhood, recurring depression, loss, chronic illness, and rebuilding my life — I trained as a massage therapist and opened my first practice in the Houston area. I began with deep tissue and sports massage as the focus to build my foundation, gradually integrating Reiki and energy work as my intuition and my clients guided the evolution of the practice. It grew quickly and became a space where people didn’t just find physical relief, but deeper healing and transformation.

In 2019, I closed that business and relocated to the DFW area, opening a new practice in Colleyville during the pandemic. This time, I built the business fully aligned with the work I had grown into: somatic bodywork, energy healing, sound and crystal healing, and meditation focused on nervous system regulation and whole-person healing. I poured my heart and soul into my work. In the process, I healed myself of the chronic health issues that had been plaguing me for years while guiding others through their own soul-aligned healing journeys.

Today, my work centers on helping people reconnect with their bodies, release long-held patterns, and step into lives that feel grounded, empowered, and aligned. I’m fortunate to have a business that is a dream come true — to do work that I’m excited to go back to on Monday, not dreading that the weekend is over. I’m beyond blessed to see miraculous healing breakthroughs in my clients, and bear witness to their beautiful, inspiring healing journeys. And I’m endlessly grateful to be a part of their stories. Looking back, every chapter — even the most difficult ones — was preparing me to do the work I do now.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, albeit a very rewarding one. Rebuilding my life from the ground up while building a business as a single-person operation meant I had to learn quickly how to adapt when things didn’t work. There was no team to lean on and no safety net — if business slowed down, it was on me to pivot, get creative, and find innovative ways to keep momentum and income flowing. Without a marketing budget or savings to fall back on, creativity wasn’t optional — it was essential.

At the same time, I was raising two children on my own, running a household, and managing a growing practice. I also had to deal with other practicalities, like rebuilding my credit and savings so I could eventually buy a house, which I did. Balancing all of those responsibilities was often exhausting and, at times, overwhelming.

There were moments when the weight of holding everything led to burnout and the occasional breakdown — moments where I had to pause, recalibrate, and decide how to keep moving forward without losing myself in the process. Those are the behind-the-scenes moments that no one really sees when they’re watching your life from the outside. But they are also the moments when my old patterns and beliefs were breaking down, one by one, giving me the opportunity to rebuild myself with a stronger foundation to keep pushing forward.

I was also navigating chronic health challenges, including a painful autoimmune condition, while working through internal struggles like self-doubt and imposter syndrome. I had to confront deeply ingrained beliefs about worthiness, stability, and whether it was truly safe to trust my intuition — both personally and professionally. What carried me forward was that quiet inner voice and the growing sense that each stepping stone was bringing me into deeper alignment, even when I couldn’t yet see what came next.

During this time, I found the love of my life, but our relationship was long-distance for several years. While having a confidant and someone to share ideas and travel with was deeply supportive, the day-to-day responsibilities of parenting, running a business, and managing life still rested fully on my shoulders. Balancing everything alongside a long-distance relationship added another layer of complexity, while at the same time giving the space and support I needed to fully realize and step into alignment with my purpose.

Eventually, his opportunity to relocate to the DFW area aligned with my own next chapter — though not without challenge. Shortly before my move, my home flooded, forcing me to navigate yet another major disruption while making decisions about relocation and reinvention, but it also served as the catalyst for me to take the leap to relocate, which meant closing the business I had for eight years, selling my house, and starting a new life and new business in a new city.

Not long after, I opened a new practice in Colleyville during an unprecedented global pandemic, which required an entirely new level of adaptability, trust, and resilience. While the challenges were very real, this chapter also marked a shift in alignment — I was no longer navigating everything entirely alone. Having the steady support of my partner during this transition added a layer of grounding and perspective as I moved through this next evolution.

Looking back, none of these challenges were separate from the work I do today. They required resilience, adaptability, and deep inner work — and those same qualities now form the foundation of how I support others through change, uncertainty, and transformation.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Spirit of Lotus?
My business is a holistic healing practice rooted in the belief that true transformation happens when we address the whole person — body, mind, spirit, and nervous system — rather than treating symptoms in isolation.

I specialize in somatic bodywork, energy healing, sound and crystal healing, and meditation designed to support deep regulation, release, and realignment. While many people initially come in seeking relief from stress, anxiety, or physical tension, the work often unfolds on a much deeper level. It’s about helping people reconnect with their bodies, access their inner wisdom, and release long-held patterns that have kept them stuck.

What sets my work apart is that it’s both intuitive and grounded. I don’t believe in bypassing the human experience or offering vague, feel-good concepts. Everything I offer is experiential, embodied, and rooted in real-life application. My clients often tell me they appreciate that the work goes straight to the root — helping them understand what’s happening within them and how to integrate the shifts into their everyday lives.

I’m especially known for my healing work rooted in both the chakras and the nervous system, and the way I combine energetic practices with somatic awareness. This creates a safe, supportive space for the nervous system to soften, which is often where lasting change begins. My own journey through chronic illness, burnout, and reinvention has deeply shaped how I hold space for others — with compassion, clarity, and respect for each person’s pace.

What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is that my practice has grown through trust and transformation rather than trends. It has evolved organically as I’ve grown and is a direct extension of my own essence and energy. It continues to be a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to reconnect with who they truly are. It’s work I feel genuinely grateful to return to each week, and one that continues to deepen and evolve alongside the people I serve.

What I want readers to know is that healing doesn’t have to be dramatic or overwhelming to be profound. Sometimes it’s subtle, steady, and deeply personal — and when given the right support, it has the power to change not just how we feel, but how we live.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is living in alignment — when my inner world and my outer life feel congruent. That sense of being true to myself, even in small, everyday ways, brings a deep kind of contentment that goes beyond fleeting joy.

I find happiness in meaningful moments: being present with my children, sharing quiet connection with my life partner, and creating a life that feels intentional rather than rushed. I’m deeply fulfilled by my work — especially witnessing the moment when someone reconnects with themselves and realizes they’re capable of far more than they believed.

Nature, stillness, and simple rituals bring me joy as well. Whether it’s time spent in reflection, movement, or creative expression, those moments help me stay grounded and remind me of what truly matters. Happiness, for me, isn’t about constant excitement or perfection — it’s about presence, purpose, and the freedom to live in a way that feels authentic and nourishing.
