Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Diaz.
Hi Lauren , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began with getting my master’s degree in social work in 2015 with plans to work with non-profit organizations. It wasn’t until I began working towards my clinical licensure that I had even considered working in private practice. Once I got a feel of the freedom and opportunities that a private practice could offer versus working as a W2 employee had I realized this was a better fit for my personality. While I had an amazing experience working at a group private practice in AL. It wasn’t until I moved back to Texas that I made the decision and risk to open one of my own. There were and are so many learning curves in the process, and I believe networking with the right people made all the difference. The part of opening up a private practice was not something I was able to learn in college. It was something I had to experience to see if it was right for me. It also started with the mentality that if I was going to be doing most of the work, I might as well get paid for it. Since then, it has been an ongoing journey to explore next steps towards implementing my vision of an ideal practice to better serve our community members in need.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! A major piece to the process was ensuring all ethical and business requirements were upheld on top of navigating the challenges with insurance.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a clinical social worker (LCSW-S) who is a business owner and psychotherapist. I specialize in treating individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I also have certification as a personal trainer and utilize those skills in the therapeutic session through mindfulness-based practices.
I am proud to be a business owner who can tap into my strengths to help others in need. I believe my approach to helping others overcome adversity is something that sets me apart, as I will use CBT, mindfulness-based interventions in the session as well as exploring individuals’ sleep and eating habits that may contribute to mental health issues.

How do you think about luck?
I’m not sure if I could call it luck, as I believe every experience has contributed to where I am at today, especially when taking chances on the opportunities that have presented themselves to me.
