Today we’d like to introduce you to Lilly Benitez.
Hi Lilly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story has always been shaped by people, place, and possibility. As a Salvadoran-Texan and first-generation entrepreneur, I learned early that building something meaningful requires more than talent. It requires trust, structure, and community. I didn’t begin with a blueprint, but I did begin with a commitment to creating experiences that made people feel seen, confident, and cared for.
Blade Craft grew from that commitment. What started as a love for the craft evolved into a brand centered on elevated service and intentional spaces. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible clients, creatives, and professionals, and that journey taught me how powerful it is when luxury is paired with authenticity. Whether we’re providing on-site barbering for private events, corporate gatherings, or special occasions—or welcoming groups into our space equipped with a cigar lounge and coffeeshop—our focus has always been on creating an experience that people remember long after they leave the chair.
As the brand expanded, so did the vision. I became increasingly focused on how curated environments, thoughtful service, and strong partnerships can transform everyday moments into something meaningful. That led to building out additional ventures and spaces designed to bring people together—places where conversation flows, creativity sparks, and community naturally forms. Each chapter has been about refining the experience and raising the standard, while staying grounded in gratitude for the clients and collaborators who made it possible.
Today, Blade Craft Barbershop is very much forward facing. We love working with organizations, teams, and hosts who want to offer something special—whether that’s booking us for luxury on-site barbering services or hosting their group in our space for a unique, high-touch experience. These moments of celebrations, retreats, brand activations, or private gatherings are where our work really shines.
Looking back, I’m incredibly thankful for the journey and for everyone who has supported it along the way. What excites me most now is continuing to create spaces and experiences that bring people together, elevate the moment, and leave a lasting impression. If you’re looking to host something memorable or bring a luxury experience directly to your guests, we’d love to be part of it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, but it has been a meaningful one. Every challenge became a lesson that shaped how I lead, how I serve, and how I build.
Like many first-generation entrepreneurs, one of the biggest struggles was learning everything in real time without direction. Navigating leases, inspections, regulations, staffing, and financing all at once can be overwhelming, especially when you are building something people rely on. There were moments when a single inspection, a delayed permit, or an unexpected expense had the power to pause everything. Those experiences taught me quickly that resilience is not just about pushing through. It is about learning how to prepare, adapt, and make thoughtful decisions under pressure.
Another challenge was carrying the weight of responsibility. When you are creating spaces that provide opportunity, whether for a young person finding their path or someone rebuilding their life, failure does not feel personal, it feels communal. I felt deeply accountable not only for my own success, but for the livelihoods, confidence, and trust of others. That responsibility forced me to grow faster than I anticipated, to become more disciplined, and to build systems that could support people even during uncertainty.
There were also moments of lack of clarity. Expanding into new ventures, stepping into visible leadership roles, and choosing to evolve the brand required constantly being willing to learn again, to adapt, and sometimes to let go of what once worked. Growth is not always glamorous. It often happens quietly, behind the scenes, when no one is watching.
What carried me through was community and gratitude. Mentors, partners, staff, clients, and even setbacks themselves became teachers. Looking back, I would not remove the struggles. They gave me clarity, confidence, and a deep appreciation for the journey. The road was not smooth, but it was purposeful, and every challenge helped shape the foundation that allows us to create elevated, thoughtful experiences today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Blade Craft is much more than a barbershop. It is a thoughtfully designed space where craft, culture, and community come together. At its core, Blade Craft Barbershop and Cigar Lounge specializes in luxury barbering experiences that are elevated, personal, and intentional. We are known for precision grooming, attention to detail, and creating an atmosphere where clients can slow down, connect, and feel taken care of. Whether someone is coming in for a haircut, a straight-razor shave, or to enjoy the lounge, the experience is designed to feel refined without being unapproachable.
What truly sets Blade Craft apart is how the space functions as a hub. Inside our barbershop and cigar lounge, we also house Steam Craft Coffee and Nocosmithing, which allows us to bring together multiple crafts under one roof. Steam Craft Coffee adds warmth and approachability, turning everyday visits into moments of conversation and connection. Nocosmithing brings an element of artistry and tradition, reinforcing our belief that craftsmanship matters, whether it is in grooming, coffee, or metalwork. Together, these elements create an environment where people do not just pass through, they stay, engage, and build relationships.
We also specialize in hosting groups and providing luxury on-site barbering services. From private events and corporate gatherings to brand activations and celebrations, Blade Craft is known for bringing high-touch service directly to people or welcoming groups into our space for a memorable experience. Our team is experienced in creating moments that feel seamless, elevated, and personal, which is why clients trust us with their most important occasions.
Brand-wise, what I am most proud of is the community we have built. Blade Craft has become a place where people from different backgrounds feel comfortable sitting side by side, sharing conversation, and supporting one another. Seeing friendships, collaborations, and opportunities form naturally within these walls has been incredibly rewarding. It confirms that when you build with intention and respect for the people you serve, the brand becomes bigger than the service.
What I want readers to know is that Blade Craft is about more than barbering. It is about experience, connection, and craftsmanship. Whether you are looking for a luxury barbering service, a unique venue to host your group, or a space that blends culture, coffee, cigars, and community, Blade Craft is designed to meet you there and make it memorable.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, the grooming and lifestyle industry is evolving into something far bigger than a haircut or a shave. People aren’t just seeking services today’s consumers want experiences, connection, and authenticity. The barbershop of the future will be as much about community and culture as it is about craft, and I see three major shifts taking shape:
1. Experience-Driven Spaces Will Define the Industry
Clients increasingly want more than a standard appointment. They’re looking for environments that feel like a destination, places where they can relax, socialize, and network in addition to receiving top tier services. Blade Craft’s model of combining a barbershop with a cigar lounge and Steam Craft Coffee is a preview of this shift: people want multi sensory experiences, not just functionality.
2. Integration of Complementary Lifestyle Elements
As the cultural value of spaces grows, we’ll see more blending of traditionally separate categories. Retail, hospitality, wellness, grooming, and creative collaboration will co exist in shared environments. Venues will offer coffee, curated products, lounges, events, and education alongside core services. This isn’t just convenience; it’s about creating hubs where people discover opportunities, build relationships, and slow down in a fast world.
3. On-Demand and Mobile Luxury Services
Convenience paired with quality will continue to rise. Clients increasingly want luxury experiences brought to them, whether at a corporate event, a wedding, a conference, or a private gathering. On site grooming and curated brand experiences are becoming a staple for companies that want to elevate their culture or offer unforgettable guest experiences. Blade Craft’s expansion into on site luxury barbering and hosted events places us squarely in this trend.
4. Community and Culture as Competitive Advantages
The industry is moving away from transactional models toward relationship driven ones. Clients are choosing brands and spaces where they feel valued, understood, and part of something larger. That means authenticity, storytelling, and connection will matter as much as technique. Businesses that embed themselves in local communities and build genuine cultural relevance will thrive.
5. Technology Supporting Personalized Service
While human connection remains at the core, technology will enhance personalization and accessibility. Booking systems, loyalty platforms, digital showcases, product education, and integrated brand engagement tools will allow businesses to serve customers more smartly and responsively.
Overall, I see the industry redefining what a service business can be. It’s no longer about isolated transactions but it’s about creating ecosystems that enrich people’s lifestyles, support community, and bring joy to daily routines.
Blade Craft is positioned to be part of that evolution by offering elevated craft, curated community spaces, and memorable experiences that people want to be part of again and again.
