Life & Work with Kasi Mauldin of Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasi Mauldin.

Hi Kasi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started doing makeup back in high school. At the time, I was doing weddings and thought of it as just a side hustle. Makeup was always my passion, but I never imagined it becoming my full time career. I went to college, realized it wasn’t the path for me, and decided to follow what I truly loved by going to cosmetology school.
From there, I assisted multiple hairstylists, worked with several wedding hair and makeup teams, and eventually added lash extensions to my services. That growth led me to open my first salon suite. Within a year, I knew I wanted more. I wanted to reach for the stars and create something bigger.
That’s when I opened my own beauty bar. I wanted a space that felt like home, not only for my team, but for every client who walked through our doors. When I came across the idea of custom lipsticks, everything changed. I envisioned a fun, celebratory environment where people could come together and experience something unique.
Fort Worth is a big city, but if you’ve lived here long enough, it can sometimes feel like there isn’t much new to do. I wanted to bring something that felt like a big city experience to our community.
Since then, it’s been an incredible journey. We’ve expanded to include a charm bar where you can create your own necklaces, one-on-one and group makeup classes, and full bridal hair and makeup teams. We’ve also grown our service offerings to include waxing, tooth gems, IV therapy, and more, all while staying true to our vision of creativity, community, and celebration.
What started as a passion has turned into something beyond anything I could’ve imagined, and I’m so grateful for the experience and the people who have been part of this journey.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey hasn’t always been easy. Running a beauty bar is hard work and comes with its own set of challenges. As an owner, you wear every hat: social media manager, HR, salon manager, financial coordinator, inventory manager, and so much more. Navigating so many responsibilities at once can be overwhelming, and at times it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders.
But at the same time, it’s incredibly rewarding. I love watching my team grow, build confidence, and succeed in their own businesses. Seeing clients light up as they experience something so unique and leave genuinely happy makes every challenge worth it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a makeup artist specializing in bridal and special events, and I also lead my own professional hair and makeup team. While those services are a major part of what I do, the heart of our beauty bar is our custom Lip Lab where guests can create their own personalized lipsticks. This is what started it all and what we are best known for.

In addition to the Lip Lab, we offer other interactive experiences, including a charm bar where guests can design their own charm necklaces, as well as one-on-one and group makeup classes.

Beyond our signature experiences, our beauty bar also features salon suites in the back, where independent professionals run their own businesses. Through these suites, we offer a variety of salon and spa services such as full body waxing, tooth gems, IV therapy, and more creating a one-stop beauty destination.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe luck had much to do with my life or my business. I put in the work and was never afraid to try something new. I was genuinely interested in every aspect of the beauty industry, so I made it a point to learn multiple skills and broaden my knowledge.

Maybe luck played a small role, but I truly believe it was hard work, determination, and consistency that led me here. I’ve always trusted my ability to recognize when something wasn’t working and knew when it was time to pivot. While some people hold tightly to an idea, I’ve learned that growth often requires change and being willing to adapt is what makes a business succeed.
