Hidden Gems: Meet Brittiany Jefferson of B. A. Jefferson Counseling & Solutions, PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittiany Jefferson.

Hi Brittiany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My work in mental health began with children and quickly expanded into working with families and couples. Early in my career, I became deeply interested in how relational dynamics shape emotional well-being—not just in childhood, but across every stage of life. Patterns formed early often echo into adulthood, influencing how we communicate, manage stress, and relate to one another in our personal and professional lives.

Over more than a decade in the field, I’ve worked across educational, community, and healthcare settings, supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, life transitions, and relational stress. Throughout that work, one thing became consistently clear: sustainable change doesn’t come from insight alone—it comes from learning how to apply emotional awareness, boundaries, and communication skills in everyday life.

That understanding is what shaped my practice today. I now focus on helping individuals and couples who are outwardly capable and driven, yet internally overwhelmed, disconnected, or misaligned. My work centers on building emotional clarity, confidence, and healthier relational patterns that support lasting growth, not just short-term relief.

In addition to therapy, I also provide consulting and workshops for organizations seeking to strengthen communication, emotional intelligence, and relational health within teams. Across both clinical and consulting work, my core value remains the same: helping people develop internal and relational structures that support clarity, connection, and sustainable well-being.

Today, I run a virtual private practice serving clients across Texas and Hawaii. My approach is collaborative, grounded, and focused on forward movement—helping people not only understand their patterns, but actively change them so they can create lives and relationships that feel fulfilling, supportive, and aligned.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was stepping into private practice and building a virtual model during a season of transition. There were moments of uncertainty—both about the business itself and about trusting the timing of that decision.

Learning how to balance clinical work with the realities of business ownership required developing stronger boundaries, adaptability, and confidence. While challenging, that process ultimately clarified what sustainability and alignment truly look like in practice.

Those experiences continue to shape my work today, allowing me to support clients through change with both empathy and practicality, grounded in real-world experience.

We’ve been impressed with B. A. Jefferson Counseling & Solutions, PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My practice is grounded in helping people build healthy internal and relational systems that support alignment across their lives. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, my work centers on how individuals and couples relate to themselves, communicate with others, and structure their lives in ways that actually sustain growth.

What sets my work apart is the emphasis on integration. Clients don’t just gain insight—they learn how to translate awareness into action through clear boundaries, emotional regulation, and intentional decision-making. The goal is not constant processing, but creating systems that allow people to maintain clarity, confidence, and healthier relationships long after therapy ends.

In addition to therapy, I bring this same systems-based, relational lens into consulting and workshops for organizations, helping teams strengthen communication, emotional intelligence, and relational health. Across all of my work, the focus remains consistent: supporting people in building lives and relationships that are aligned, sustainable, and genuinely supportive of their well-being.

What I’m most proud of is creating a practice that values depth over urgency and sustainability over burnout—helping people move beyond functioning and into lives that feel whole, connected, and intentional.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I view risk as a necessary part of growth. As the saying goes, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I believe there’s value in taking calculated risks, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. In my experience, stepping forward with intention almost always leads to one of two things: progress or learning—and both are wins.

One of the most significant risks I’ve taken was relocating from Honolulu to Texas in 2022 after living in Hawaii for roughly a decade. At the time, I didn’t have a clear plan for what my professional future would look like, and I wasn’t intending to start a private practice. It was a leap taken during a period of uncertainty, but it ultimately became one of the best decisions I’ve made. That move allowed me to build a meaningful community, grow personally and professionally, and eventually create the practice I run today.

As a business owner, my relationship with risk continues to evolve. Running a practice has taught me that waiting for certainty can often keep you stuck. Whether it’s trying new approaches, launching programs, or investing in growth, sometimes you have to test, learn, and adjust. I’ve learned that you never really know what’s possible unless you’re willing to step forward and explore what could be.
