Corri, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey didn’t start in design or marketing — it started in aviation. I spent years working as an aircraft mechanic for various airlines and companies, taking on roles as a technician, trainer, quality assurance specialist, supervisor, and even a stand-in manager occasionally. While I enjoyed the work and the responsibility that came with it, there were parts of the job that eventually began to wear on me.
Over time, I found myself craving more freedom — freedom of time, freedom from that level of stress, freedom to travel more, and freedom to build something that could grow beyond a fixed paycheck. I didn’t want to spend the rest of my working life trading my time for a set amount while helping someone else build their dream. If you’re not going to be the pen that writes your own dreams, then you’ll end up being the paper that someone else writes their dreams on, you know? So I decided to start being the pen.
That decision led me to start Corri Gidden LLC, a website design and digital marketing business built around helping other entrepreneurs and small business owners grow. I wanted to create something that supported people who, like me, had the passion to build something of their own but needed the right digital tools and guidance to do it effectively. One of the most rewarding parts of what I do is seeing someone’s vision come to life — watching their confidence grow as their business goals start turning into real results.
Today, I get to combine my natural creative and artistic abilities with the analytical mindset I developed over the years to help businesses show up professionally online and grow with confidence. I genuinely love seeing my clients succeed, knowing that the work we do together helps move them closer to the freedom and goals they’re working toward. The fact that this is work I can do from anywhere with a laptop and Wi-Fi, without being tied to one place, is an added bonus.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This journey has definitely not been a smooth road, and it’s come with plenty of challenges along the way. Making the transition from being an aircraft mechanic in the world of aviation to digital design, coding, and learning SEO best practices was a complete shift in gears. On top of that, there were all the usual challenges that come with starting and running a business for the first time.
Even when you think you’ve thought of everything, there’s always something you didn’t anticipate. When I first started Corri Gidden LLC, I really had no idea what I was doing. I had to learn what it truly takes to build a business from the ground up — including backend systems like bookkeeping, client onboarding, and payment processing. A large part of the early stages of my business was spent figuring out how to attract clients and price my services in a way that made sense for both the work involved and the value being provided.
It has been a lot of trial and error. I had to figure out how to find the right clients, how to communicate my value, and how to grow with confidence. While it hasn’t always been easy, I learn quickly and I’ve genuinely enjoyed the challenge. I have loved being able to look back in surprise by just how much I’ve learned, how much I’ve grown, and how far I’ve come.
I know there will always be new challenges ahead, but that’s just part of the fun of being the author of something that is truly mine. What I love about entrepreneurship is that there’s always room to evolve, and I get excited to think of all the ways I will have grown — both as a person and as an entrepreneur — as I overcome all of those future challenges.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t consider myself a reckless risk-taker, but I do believe in taking intentional, calculated risks when they align with growth. One of the biggest risks I took was leaving a stable career in aviation — an industry built on structure, predictability, and security — to step into entrepreneurship, where very little is guaranteed.
At the time, it felt risky to walk away from a reliable income and a clearly defined career path that I had worked hard to get to. But I also realized that staying where I was came with its own risks: burnout, stagnation, and giving up the freedom and flexibility I wanted long-term. In that sense, not making a change felt like the bigger risk.
Throughout building Corri Gidden LLC, I’ve continued to take smaller, calculated risks — from learning new skills on the fly, to pricing my services appropriately, to trusting myself to take on projects that stretched me outside my comfort zone. I’ve learned that you don’t have to have everything figured out to take the next step; you just have to be willing to learn quickly and adapt.
My perspective on risk today is that growth rarely happens without some level of uncertainty. When approached thoughtfully and with intention, risk becomes less about fear and more about opportunity. Each risk I’ve taken has helped shape both my business and my confidence, and I know that continuing to grow means continuing to step outside my comfort zone — even when it feels uncomfortable or scary. I’m committed to doing those hard, unfamiliar things because that’s how I continue to learn, grow, and evolve — both as a business owner and as a person.
