Daily Inspiration: Meet Ruth Corley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Corley.

Hi Ruth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our Story

Nearly three years ago, I was working as a full-time caregiver for a private family providing round-the-clock care for both a husband and wife. Each had different diagnoses, abilities, and needs, along with unique strengths that shaped their daily lives. It quickly became clear that while some caregivers did the bare minimum, others went above and beyond. Too often, the husband was left unattended while all attention was focused on the wife.

After observing these gaps, I worked closely with the family to create individualized care plans for both parents. I established daily routines tailored to their specific needs and trained caregivers on how to provide consistent, balanced, and compassionate care. The result was a noticeable improvement in quality of life for both individuals and a sense of relief for the family, who finally felt supported.

It was during this time that I was told, “No one does caregiving the way you do. You should start a business.”

So I did.

Corley Care, LLC was born from the belief that caregiving should never be one-size-fits-all. It should be thoughtful, intentional, and rooted in genuine human connection. Through Corley Care, I’ve been able to combine my professional knowledge with compassion for people while also creating opportunities for others to grow, learn, and develop within our business model.

My background includes years of management experience paired with a degree in secondary education. I’ve always been someone who learns by doing, observing, and refining. I take pride in creating solutions, improving systems, and adapting customer service to meet individuals exactly where they are.

My passion for caregiving comes from lived experience. I’ve walked through difficult seasons and survived some very dark times. Instead of allowing those experiences to harden me, I chose to transform pain into purpose. That purpose is to care for others with empathy, patience, and respect—honoring their unique journeys.

At Corley Care, we believe true care means slowing down, being flexible, and treating people with kindness. It means ensuring our clients feel seen and heard, and just as importantly, that our caregivers feel valued, supported, and empowered.

Because care isn’t just about tasks—it’s about humanity.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The excitement of starting a business was soon met with hardship. Just a few months after opening Corley Care, we had only three clients, and my salaried income disappeared when the family I had been working for transitioned into an assisted living facility. I remember feeling terrified, wondering if I had taken on more than I could handle.

In that uncertainty, I learned to slow down and trust God’s timing. I had to remind myself that this was not my business—it was God’s. He would either care for it or gently redirect me elsewhere. My role was to remain faithful, patient, and willing.

Little by little, I began to see provision in unexpected ways. We always seemed to have just enough—and then some. The business slowly grew, and with growth came the sacred reality of caregiving: clients sometimes pass away. It’s a complex space to stand in—holding deep purpose in walking someone home while also carrying the grief of saying goodbye. It is both an honor and a heartbreak, and one that never becomes routine.

I was raised in a small town in Florida where we were never hungry and always clothed, though money was often tight. As a single adult woman, the fear of not being able to make ends meet was very real. Over time, that fear began to soften as I learned gratitude—gratitude for what I had, for those we were called to serve, and for the caregivers willing to walk alongside us.

Prayer became central—not just for provision, but for our clients, their families, and our team. In choosing gratitude over fear, I began to trust that we would be okay. And slowly, steadily, I came to believe what my heart already knew: this work is my calling, and this is exactly where I am meant to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In today’s business world, it’s easy to get lost in the data—how many sales we have, how many we need, and what it takes to sell more, do more, and be more. I understand the importance of those metrics. They matter.

But over the years, I’ve come to believe there is a missing piece that cannot be measured: humanity.

For me, the heart of sustainable growth is not found solely in numbers, but in people. How are we pouring into our team? How are we supporting mental health, personal challenges, and the realities our caregivers carry with them each day? Caregivers give so much of themselves, and they deserve to be seen, supported, and valued as whole human beings.

Being a creative problem-solver allows me to draw from experience, observation, and collaboration. I ask hard questions, seek better solutions, and remain open to growth and learning. I love engineering new ways to work together—building one another up within the business so that strength and care can naturally extend to the families we serve.

I don’t do this perfectly. But I am committed to learning from my mistakes, owning my faults, and being vulnerable when the moment calls for it. I believe that professionalism and vulnerability are not opposites—they are partners in trust.

It is through humility, honesty, and a willingness to grow that I believe Corley Care continues to thrive. When people feel safe, supported, and valued, care becomes more than a service—it becomes a shared commitment..

What matters most to you?
Showing others that they matter and allowing others the space to be human.

It matters to me as I believe that there needs to be space for grace in all our lives. No one is perfect and no one fully has it all together. If we can rid ourselves of those facades, then we become stronger together as we work through those problems or weaknesses and unite with our unique strengths.
