Life & Work with Jesus Carmona of West Dallas trinity groves

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesus Carmona.

Jesus, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my own taco place back in 2015 called Tacos Mariachi on Singleton Blvd. and I was open for six years. The restaurant was a big success, I won all of the Accolades you could imagine! Just to name a few, Best Taco Joint by D Magazine, Best Taqueria by the Dallas Observer, Best New Restaurant by Dallas Morning News and the icing on the cake was to be on an episode of Triple D with Guy Fyeri in 2018.
Unfortunately when Covid came along I was forced to close both locations on Singleton and in Lower Greenville. And after one year the landlords of the Milagro Taco location helped me build a space and get me back in the taco business. That’s why it’s called Milagro because a miracle happened! In addition to Milagro Tacos I own and operate a seafood restaurant called Pesca in Trinity Groves, my new baby. !!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the struggles have been prices of goods, and the unstable economy but I always find a way to persevere and continue working in the restaurant business which is not easy!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love the restaurant business, it’s my passion. I’ve been doing this since I was 12 years old at my father’s business in Mexico City. So restaurants are in my blood!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I remember going to the farmers markets in Mexico City to buy fresh produce for my father’s restaurant.
