Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Kieschnick.
Taylor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In November of 2022, I took my art students on a field trip to a pottery studio in Fort Worth, unaware that the experience would mark the beginning of a deeply transformative season in my life. As I sat at the wheel to throw my very first bowl, my hand slipped and my thumb went straight through the clay, collapsing the piece. In that moment, I felt the Lord meet me in a quiet, unexpected way as He whispered, “This is how I see you.”That imperfect bowl reflected exactly how I felt—broken, fragile, and unsure—and yet still held.
At the time, my life was unraveling. I had married young, and by the end of 2022 my marriage was falling apart. As it broke, so did my sense of identity. I began to realize how much of my worth I had tied to being a wife, and in that dark place, God gently began leading me back to Himself. He used this painful time in my life to invite me into pottery to begin creating with Him! Pottery became more than a creative outlet—it became a space where healing began. Through the process of shaping and reshaping clay, I saw a reflection of what God was doing in my own heart and life.
By March of 2023, that journey led to the creation of Pure Heart Co., a name inspired by Matthew 5:8: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” What started as simply working with clay turned into moments of prayer, reflection, and encounter. As my hands shaped each piece, I felt God softening and restoring parts of me I didn’t realize needed healing.
Today, Pure Heart Co., creates functional pieces of art designed to serve as invitations to encounter God in everyday moments. Each piece is handmade, stamped, and painted with intention—meant to remind, encourage, and draw hearts back to Him. Whether you are new to the faith, returning after time away, or passionately pursuing God, these pieces are created as invitations for you.
It is more than just pottery. It’s an encounter and oh how the King wants to encounter you!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely come with its challenges! I have been working full time as a retail manager so, trying to balance that work schedule while making time to create has definitely been hard. I have spent many long nights in my studio working to meet deadlines and complete pieces. But it has truly been worth it. This pottery business has been a dream of mine to pursue full time and we are finally getting there!
I recently left my management job this January of 2026 to begin pursuing Pure Heart Co. full time! Having the opportunity to create functional pieces of art that spreads positivity and encouragement is such an honor. I want Pure Heart Co. to be more than just art but truly a space where people can come and feel safe, heard, and seen. I want people to come and encounter His radical love!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What do you do, what do you specialize in, and what are you known for?
I am the founder and artist behind Pure Heart Co., a pottery business creating handmade, functional pieces of art such as mugs, vases, trinket trays, bowls, and more. I specialize in wheel-thrown ceramics that are stamped and hand-painted with intentional designs and messages. My painted details are highly inspired by nature such as butterflies (represent the old passing away and new remaining), mountains (strength and reflection), flowers (reminders of the beauty in life and the fragility of it). Often times the designs and words come straight from persona encounters I have with the Lord. It’s like a scavenger hunt when I create with Him because sometimes He only unveils parts of what a piece should look like and it’s in the process of creating that the piece truly begins to come to life!
What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of how Pure Heart Co. was built out of a season of personal healing and has grown into something that now serves others. What began as a creative outlet during a difficult time has become a space where people feel seen, encouraged, and reminded that beauty can come from brokenness. Knowing that my work has found its way into people’s daily rhythms and meaningful moments is incredibly rewarding. My heart is to create and share about the goodness of God and all that He has done in my life to encourage others that He can meet them too in the midst of whatever they are walking through. One thing that brings me great joy is whenever others share personal stories with me about how my work has impacted their lives. It is a reminder that this business is far bigger than me and that it is truly Him that is doing the work.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets my work apart is the heart and intentionality behind each piece. Every item is completely handmade, and every design is rooted in personal experience, prayer, and reflection. I don’t just create pottery to be admired—I create pieces meant to be used, lived with, and encountered daily. Pure Heart Co. sits at the intersection of art, faith, and storytelling, offering ceramics that carry both purpose and presence. Each piece is an invitation to encounter the Lord and I truly believe that!
I am very excited for 2026 to grow more in this craft and specifically step more into the sculptural side of ceramics this year! One of my goals this year is to hold my first ever art exhibit at a gallery!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My mom has been a major support to Pure Heart Co. She believed in this business when I was doubting and constantly gave fresh life to it. She has come to every market, and pop up and faithfully showed up to help set up and tear down. She has also spent late nights with me in the studio helping glaze and sand the bottoms of finished pieces. I would not be where I am today without her.
Shout out to my husband, Preston! He has been a huge support in me leaving my retail to pursue pottery full time. I’m very grateful for how the Lord has been healing and restoring our marriage throughout this whole process! While we are two imperfect people and we still make mistakes there has been such a grace in us pursing the Lord individually that has truly brought us back into unity. My marriage is a testimony to not quit and to allow the Lord to meet you where you are at! Everyday we are working at growing in our marriage and asking the Lord to teach us how to love and honor one another how He intended. This past year of us being back together has truly been so fun full of lots of adventures, laughs, and joy.
Also, Teresa, our pottery instructor from the first pottery class I took, has been so helpful in sharing so much of her pottery knowledge with me. I used to fire my work with her before I got my first kiln. She has encouraged me so much in this journey and helped me grow in the knowledge that I have today regarding the pottery process.
There are many other amazing people such as friends, family, and my church community who have continually showed up at markets, prayed over me and this business, and shared words of encouragement. Pure Heart Co. would not be here if it weren’t for the people that the Lord has intentionally placed in my life and for that I am so thankful!
