Rising Stars: Meet Tracy German of West Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy German.

Tracy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started baking out of my house, selling cake slices after being laid off. The business grew through word of mouth. I was in 2014 selected to go into Trinity Groves in the incubator program, I begin by selling 16 different made from scratch cake flavors, which I stayed in Trinity Groves for 10 years. In 2024 I ended the partnership and moved out of Trinity Groves to 2629 N, Stemmons FWY to a larger space. We are now offering more items in a larger space. We have soft serve ice cream. We offer catering and wholesale to our customers.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Entrepreneur in never a smooth road but look at it as teachable moments. As an entrepreneur something will always be out of your control. Learning to have great faith and pivoting is a major trait of an entrepreneur. Struggles help us to see what we are really made of.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Cake Bar is a retail bakery that specializes in made from scratch Southern Cake that you grow up with. We are known for our consistence to our cake line. We have stayed true to our recipes and our products. I am most proud that we are recognized by the community for still giving the same quality products. What sets us apart is our large variety of cakes and baked goods. We do not jump on trends or fads; we give a product that invokes memories of childhood or family scratch baking.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is when a customer tells me that our cakes was a part of a celebration and they really enjoyed it. We are making memories, and our cake is there……
