Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Fitzpatrick.
Hi Angela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Becoming a counselor was a deeply personal decision for me. My path was shaped by a desire to better understand and support someone very close to me who was living with chronic mental illness. From a young age, I found myself stepping into a caregiving role, which taught me firsthand how important it is to truly understand a diagnosis in order to offer meaningful, compassionate support.
Through that experience, I learned that naming and understanding what someone is experiencing is often the first step toward managing it with greater clarity, confidence, and care. That insight stayed with me and ultimately guided my decision to pursue a career in counseling.
Today, that lived experience continues to inform my work. It fuels my passion for supporting individuals as they navigate their own mental health journeys, as well as those who are caring for or supporting someone they love. I approach this work with empathy, patience, and deep respect for the courage it takes to seek understanding and healing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor felt less like searching for the right path and more like answering a calling. Even before starting college, I had a strong sense of clarity about the work I wanted to do. From a young age, I felt drawn to understanding people in all their complexity and knew I wanted to work in the mental health field in some meaningful way.
During my college years, I explored several paths within psychology and didn’t always know exactly where I would land. With time, experience, and reflection, I discovered just how powerful and transformative therapy can be—especially the opportunity to work one-on-one with clients in a space that is supportive, intentional, and deeply human. That realization confirmed for me that this is exactly where I am meant to be, and it continues to guide the way I show up for my clients today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and the owner and founder of Fitzpatrick Therapy. I built this practice with the intention of creating a space where introverts, women, and people of color—from early adulthood through midlife—can feel truly seen, supported, and empowered. Because my practice is 100% online, I’m able to meet clients where they are and provide therapy that fits into real life.
I’m especially passionate about working with adults who are new to therapy and may be navigating anxiety, self-esteem challenges, overwhelm, or the quieter struggles that often go unseen. Many clients come to Fitzpatrick Therapy feeling unsure about starting therapy or uncertain about what they need—and my goal is to make that first step feel approachable, safe, and supported.
As a practice owner and therapist, I value collaboration, clarity, and care. Therapy here is goal-focused and personalized. Together, we work to build resilience, confidence, and practical coping skills so stress and anxiety feel more manageable and life feels less heavy.
My clinical approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and somatic-based techniques, alongside a holistic perspective that honors the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of your experience. I believe lasting growth happens when we understand not only what we’re thinking, but how our bodies and nervous systems respond as well.
Above all, Fitzpatrick Therapy is designed to be a warm, judgment-free space. I don’t see myself as the expert on your life—you are. My role is to provide guidance, ask thoughtful questions, and walk alongside you as we create a plan that supports you through whatever season you’re in.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have been incredibly blessed with a strong support system from the very beginning. I am deeply grateful for the ongoing love and encouragement of my husband, parents, close and extended family, and former coworker friends. Their support has been a steady source of strength throughout my journey.
Above all, I am thankful for God’s faithfulness, grace, and the clear calling on my life, which continue to guide, sustain, and ground me in the work that I do.
