We recently had the chance to connect with Lan Nhi Nguyen RN, BSN and have shared our conversation below.
Lan Nhi, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been finding joy in rediscovering my love for dance. I recently came across old talent show DVDs and was surprised by my younger self’s courage —especially since I’m much more shy now— choreographing and performing with large groups. Revisiting those memories has inspired me to get back to dancing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lan Nhi Nguyen, and I’m a Registered Nurse with over 15 years of experience in the medical field, including the last eight years in medical aesthetics. My background includes neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and the intensive care unit, which has deeply shaped my clinical judgment and patient-centered approach.
As a nurse injector, I specialize in creating natural, refined results using neurotoxins, dermal fillers, and biostimulators. My philosophy is conservative and intentional—I focus on enhancing each patient’s unique features rather than changing them.
What truly sets my work apart is the connection I build with my patients. My treatment room is often filled with laughter and honest conversations, and my goal is always to help people feel confident while reminding them of the beauty they already carry, both inside and out.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I wasn’t good enough or deserving of good things because of the circumstances I grew up in. My family struggled—we lived in women’s shelters and often had very little—and at the time, I couldn’t understand why those things were happening to me. As I grew older and experienced kindness, stability, and success, that belief slowly changed. Today, I truly know that I am worthy and capable of amazing things, and that the life I’ve built is something I’ve worked hard for and deserve.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to be a better human in ways success never could. Living in a women’s shelter showed me the true value of having a safe place to call home. Experiencing hunger taught me gratitude for food and clean water. Wearing donated clothing taught me appreciation for what I have, rather than what I lack. Experiencing abuse taught me empathy and the ability to truly see and care for others.
Living in a cruel world can harden people, but for me, it did the opposite. It taught me how to love deeply, to lead with compassion, and to care for others in the way I always wished to be cared for myself.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
In medical aesthetics, one of the biggest challenges providers face is separating viral trends from truly meaningful advancements. Social media fads move fast, and many are driven by paid influencers or marketing rather than science or safety. I differentiate real, fundamental shifts by staying grounded in research, evidence-based practice, and ongoing education.
True innovation is supported by clinical data, long-term outcomes, and patient safetyl. Medical aesthetics requires medical training, sound judgment, and proper resources, which simply can’t be replicated through DIY treatments or internet advice.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my patients would miss my gentle hands, thoughtful techniques, and the natural results we created together. But more than anything, they’d probably miss the conversations, the laughter, and the genuine connection we built along the way. My goal has always been to help people feel beautiful—both inside and out—and to make every visit feel a little uplifting, far beyond the syringe.
