Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Luviano.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began doing nails because I loved doing my own nails, and as an immigrant, I was tired of working in kitchens. What started as something I enjoyed quickly became a passion and a way for me to create a better life.
I first worked in salons, learning the industry hands-on and building experience. In 2016, I took the step to work independently and opened my own suite, where I focused on growing my clientele and perfecting my skills one appointment and class at a time. Over the years, my vision continued to grow, and in 2019 I took a leap of faith and opened Nailed Up Salon in Oak Cliff.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been shaped by consistency, growth, and trusting the process. Today, I continue to do what I love—not only behind the chair, but also through education, mentorship, and creating a space for others to grow.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges came in 2019, shortly after opening my salon, when the pandemic hit. I was also pregnant at the time, which meant temporarily closing the business and navigating so much uncertainty while becoming a mother and a new business owner at the same time.
Balancing motherhood, business, and everyday life has been an ongoing challenge, especially finding time for self-care and myself. Running a business can easily take over everything, and I’ve had to learn that rest, boundaries, and mental health are just as important as hard work.
As an immigrant and small business owner, I’ve learned many things through trial and error—from managing finances to building a team—often without a clear roadmap. These challenges pushed me to grow, slow down when needed, and stay committed to my vision even during difficult seasons.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Nail artist, Educator, and Salon owner. My work is split between servicing clients, training nail technicians, and continuing to grow as a professional myself. I specialize in clean, structured nail work, advanced gel and polygel systems, Russian manicure techniques, and detailed nail art. I also work in editorials, sets, content creation, and as an Expert Witness Retention/Litigation.
I’m known for being very detail-oriented and for taking nail health seriously. I care a lot about proper technique, structure, and longevity—not just how nails look on day one, but how they hold up over time. I’m also really proud of the work I do as an educator. Seeing students and team members gain confidence in their skills and level up professionally is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
What sets me apart is that I’m always learning and pushing myself to improve. I compete nationally and internationally, invest heavily in education, and bring that knowledge back to my salon and academy. I lead by example and believe in growing together, not just individually. At the end of the day, my work is about craftsmanship, consistency, and helping others feel confident in what they do.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t really believe in luck. I believe in preparation, consistency, and showing up even when things are hard. Any opportunity I’ve had came from years of work, learning, and putting myself in uncomfortable situations where growth could happen.
Of course, timing plays a role in life, but I think what people call “luck” is really the result of discipline meeting opportunity. I’ve faced setbacks, unexpected challenges, and moments that could have stopped me, but each one pushed me to adapt and work harder. Everything I’ve built has come from persistence, not chance.
