Today we’d like to introduce you to Mallory Collins.
Hi Mallory, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I graduated from massage therapy school in 2003 in Emeryville California. I worked for Lainey Junior college in Oakland California in their athletic department for about 2 1/2 years. I moved to Texas in 2008, started with a Massage Envy so I could get back into Massage and build a clientele. In 2014 I went on my own and started my business restorative touch in Flower Mound, Texas. With my background in sports massage and recovery therapies, I get to help people, including athletes with pain management restoration in the body and recover recovery.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a relatively smooth road to be where I am now. There has certainly been a few bumps back when I started massage therapy, Massage was not very popular. It was only seen in spas and I started massage therapy before Massage Envy was even created and so the general public didn’t have a great knowledge of massage therapy and what massage therapy can do for them. And then the general public got more educated on Massage therapy and that was awesome and then when 2020 hit there was a little bit of some hiccups. I was able to keep my practice and now in 26 I’ve overcome all of that again and now I’m doing great. I am a wife and a mother and so juggling home life and then work life and then all the business stuff that has nothing to do with Massage has been a good challenge, but I’d like to think now I’m in pretty much Balance.
As you know, we’re big fans of Restorative Touch. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in deep tissue and rehabilitative therapies. I do sports Massage and I do work on quite a few athletes, but I also get to work on people who sit on a computer computers all day and have long commute. I get to help them feel better in their bodies with stretch stretching sports massage therapy techniques, some deep tissue and cupping. I am also a facia blaster. I use the facia Blaster! and I do facia blasting sessions that include starting off with a far infrared sauna blankets and then doing a facia blasting session afterwards it has been great for my clients recovery time and overall muscle composition, as well as helping them be more flexible and prevent injury .
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I really enjoy the Things I learned last night podcast, it lets me learn about random topics and get a good laugh.
