Today we’d like to introduce you to Sr. Pastor L.C. Johnson.
Hi Sr. Pastor L.C., we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well, I was born in Dallas Tx but, moved to New York at 8 years old. As a child)kid. I made stupid decisions. Sold drugs. Smoked weed. And also ended up incarcerated for the majority of my 20s. It was then where I realized God had a different calling on my life. I never could figure out why I would always find myself in trouble until then. That’s when I decided to give my life to Christ. So I went to school to study the art of writing Sermons. How to study the books of the bible. And are still receiving certificates until this very day. I became the pastor of the Greater Gilgal Baptist Church in year 2019.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say, life is never smooth. There will be many struggles along the way. I believe that we hold on the Gods unchanging hand through the difficulties.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My as Pastor is to shepherd, teach, lead, and care for their church congregation, acting as a spiritual guide by preaching biblical truth, providing counseling, leading worship, overseeing church administration, and, crucially, equipping members for their own ministry to build up the body of Christ, focusing on spiritual growth and community well-being, not just speaking from the pulpit.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Just to stick with it. It is not going to be easy. But, God hasn’t brought you this far to leave you.
