Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Hoy.
Hi Katie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. I graduated nursing school in 2013 from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and began working at a large hospital in Dallas in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I have always loved babies and getting to take care of the most fragile yet resilient infants was such a blessing and learning process.
After a few years, I really had the itch to do more and I applied for my Nurse Practitioner degree at Texas Women’s University while still working full time.
My plan was to transition to the aesthetic field when I graduated but I knew that it was a difficult field to break into. I graduated with my masters in 2019 and got a part-time job at a plastic surgeons med spa. There I was taught by one of the best in the field and really got to see what life was like as an injector. Unfortunately COVID came and the office had to shut down since it wasn’t “essential”. Luckily for me, I was still working in the NICU and was able to pick up more shifts at the hospital.
In 2021, I got back into the aesthetic field and really honed in on my practice. I was working at a med spa in North Dallas and began expanding my knowledge and skills doing trainings, learning new techniques, going to cadaver courses, and getting to know the aesthetic industry.
At the end of 2025, I opened up my own practice with a vision of focusing on restoring confidence in patients who didn’t feel like they looked like themselves anymore. I wanted to replace what was once there and hopefully build up the self-image of so many who weren’t happy when they saw themselves in the mirror.
I love being able to combine the science and art of aesthetics while getting to connect with my patients on a deeper level.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
COVID happened at the very beginning of my career and it put a halt to my first job in aesthetics. It is so difficult to find a job where they are willing to train you on-the-job and I felt like I had been robbed of it. It was a tough pill to swallow, but I was blessed with another opportunity just a few months later to continue my path in aesthetics. Both of these jobs really shaped me as a person as well as an injector. I learned so much and had opportunities that I know don’t come around frequently, especially in this field.
Deciding to become a solo-injector was also another challenge that I didn’t think I wanted to do when I first got into this field either. It is a lot of work to step out on your own and take something on, especially because it is a saturated market. I knew that I had something different to offer patients though. I truly consume injections, products, techniques, and education continually and really nerd-out on anything related to the aesthetic field. I want to bring this knowledge and curated treatment plans to my patients to give them the best that’s out there.
As you know, we’re big fans of Element Medical Aesthetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
EMA is focused on natural aesthetic outcomes using conservative treatments. I enjoy sitting down with my clients and listening to their concerns. I usually have multiple treatment options for the client ranging from skincare recommendations, to injectables, and collagen-stimulating treatments like micro needling. I like to approach the “problem” from multiple angles in order to get the best results while keeping the client comfortable.
What sets me apart from others is the honesty I have for my patients. I truly am not looking to make more money, push more product, or force something that the client doesn’t need or want. I want to make sure the client concern is addressed with using the least amount of product as possible while still getting a great result.
I am proud of the services and products that I provide. I have chosen everything myself and have taken the time to decide what is best for my patients whether it’s a chemical peel, neurotoxin, or an at-home skincare regimen. These are all things I have used myself and recommend to my mom and sisters.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My passion for the aesthetic industry as well as my appetite for knowledge has helped me excel in this field. Aesthetics is a relatively new field and like most science, is always evolving with new products, technology, and techniques. I really love what I do and want the best outcomes for my patients.
