Rising Stars: Meet James Carter of Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Carter.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was raised by a single mom which just happened to be my aunt. I did not have a father figure. However, there were men in the community of Cincinnati, and uncles that mentored me. Through those relationships, I got the positive messages as a young male about honor, accountability, purpose and vision. At age 14 I almost lost my life being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I have been intentional about mentoring young for several years now at various levels. When I retired, I was motivated to start
14 ROUNDUP.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. Raising a family, losing a daughter, coupled with seeing so many young people over the years die too soon.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Founder and director of non profit.

What matters most to you?
To have a positive impact on this young generation and to come along their side at critical time of their lives. My personal goal is to help them become successful, avoid incarceration avoid being killed, become mature, and reach their God given potential.
