Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Hall.
Hi Jonathan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My grandfather taught me welding and fabrication at a young age. I’ve built many things from wood, metal, and other mediums as a hobby my entire life. I was a saturation diver, and navy diver, working around the world most of my adult life.
A few years ago I found myself raising my two daughters alone. I needed to stop traveling from r work.
I knew nothing about small business at all. With support from close friends I started Diversified Welding LLC.
I’ve run the business like I have my life, do what’s right. By treating clients like humans and not being focused on profit margins I’ve gained friendships, and many return clients.
2025 opened a whole new door to my artistic side.
I was given artistic freedom to build some amazing functional metal art pieces. With this, I’ve started a dba to showcase the fun stuff.
Iron Life Studios is the fun stuff, my passion.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Mostly smooth. There were a few times that were financially worrisome.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Diversified Welding llc?
What sets Diversified Welding apart is that we’re not specializing in one thing. We are absolutely outside the box when it comes to project capabilities. From the smallest 5 minute job to a massive custom job taking months. We pay attention to the needs and vision of the individual client and deliver a solid end result.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Treat people humanely. Just because someone has a small job that doesn’t meet a profit margin, doesn’t mean to not help them. Their part needs to be fixed, so fix it. Take 30 minutes and do it, and don’t charge an hour minimum.
