Today we’d like to introduce you to Matraca Rehkemper.
Hi Matraca, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! My name is Matraca and I am a wife, a mother of four young children, and a homeschooling mom. I also own two small businesses. The first one being Raynebow Nutrition, LLC where I practice as a Certified Nutrition Consultant. My second line of work is being a UGC creator, working for brands and helping their vision come to life. My journey has been anything but linear, but it’s been deeply rooted in creativity, wellness, and helping people feel confident, both online and in their own bodies.
I earned my college degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant, which gave me a strong foundation in anatomy, movement, and how the body functions as a whole. This education sparked a deeper curiosity about health and wellness, but my relationship with my own body was not always a healthy one. For many years, I struggled with an eating disorder, which ultimately became a turning point in my life. Through recovery, I began learning how the body truly works, how nutrition impacts both physical and mental health, and how important balance and sustainability are when it comes to long-term wellness. This journey of healing is what led me down the path of nutrition. My husband and I also suffered a miscarriage during the 17th week of pregnancy. Our baby’s name was Rayne, which ultimately sparked Raynebow Nutrition. Nutrition consulting was definitely used as a coping strategy, and also as a way to heal during those grieving stages after the loss.
Alongside my nutrition work, I found myself naturally stepping into the world of content creation. What started as sharing everyday life, wellness, and honest experiences online evolved into brands reaching out for authentic, relatable content. Over time, I learned how powerful genuine storytelling can be in the digital space and turned this skill into a UGC business. Today, I work with brands to create content that builds trust and connection rather than relying on overly polished marketing.
Marrying my husband, who also happens to be a Physical Therapist (DPT), and raising our four children has taught me the importance of balance, adaptability, and leading by example. Everything I do now is rooted in showing others that it is possible to care for your health, pursue your passions, and build something meaningful without sacrificing your values or your family.
I am still growing and evolving, but looking back, every chapter has played an important role in getting me to where I am today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, and many of the biggest challenges happened behind the scenes. Balancing motherhood, homeschooling, marriage, and building two businesses at the same time has been one of the most consistent struggles. There were seasons where my goals felt at odds with my responsibilities at home, and learning how to give myself grace while still staying ambitious took time.
Personally, I lost my mom at 16 (an extremely important and formative age), to breast cancer. Before that, I lost my sister in a car accident. Between losing my mom, my sister, my eating disorder and severe bullying in High School – the way I perceived the world and myself was forever changed. Just when life was getting easier, I lost my baby.. because of all of that, I’d say I’ve had my fair share of disadvantages in life. HOWEVER, we are all going through something. Every single person is struggling, so I try my absolute best to not let my past become an excuse.
But I would like to say, navigating recovery from an eating disorder that was present in my life for well over five years, while pursuing a career in health and wellness was both challenging and transformative. I had to unlearn a lot of harmful beliefs and rebuild trust with my body before I could confidently help others. This process was very uncomfortable at times and required patience, support, and a willingness to slow down, but it ultimately became one of the most important foundations of my work.
Professionally, learning to trust myself as an entrepreneur was another hurdle. When my husband and I had our third child, I left my career as a Physical Therapist Assistant, and pivoted towards staying home with the kids and homeschooling. Shifting from a traditional career path, to a stay at home parent and then into entrepreneurship meant dealing with self-doubt, uncertainty, and the pressure to constantly adapt in a fast-moving digital space. Especially in the UGC world, trends change quickly, and it took time to find my voice and understand where I truly added value. From a girl who had her voice quieted for many years, finding my voice again was an adventure in itself.
Then there were moments of burnout from trying to juggle everything at once. I had to learn growth does not always mean “doing more” and that sustainability matters just as much in business as it does in health.
Looking back, each struggle helped clarify my purpose and strengthened my resilience. Even when the path felt uncertain, it pushed me to build businesses which align with my values and support the life I want for my family.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We’ll talk about Raynebow Nutrition first. I am certified in general nutrition and hold additional certifications in pregnancy nutrition, postpartum nutrition, baby nutrition, and menopause nutrition. These certifications allow me to support clients through multiple life stages, from preconception, to pregnancy, to postpartum recovery and early childhood nutrition. My background as a Physical Therapist Assistant further strengthens my work in nutrition through my comprehensive understanding of how the body functions as a whole; allowing me to approach nutrition from a holistic, body-aware perspective.
What truly sets Raynebow Nutrition apart is the balance of education, empathy, and practicality. My own experience of recovering from an eating disorder shaped how I approach this work. It taught me health is not about perfection or control, but about consistency, compassion, and learning to trust your body. Because of this understanding, I specialize in helping people move away from restrictive mindsets, food guilt, and confusion around nutrition, and toward sustainable habits they can maintain long term. Aiming to build life long habits, rather than quick fix diets.
I am especially known for meeting clients where they are. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all solutions or extreme protocols. Instead, I provide personalized guidance to adapt to each individual’s lifestyle, family responsibilities, and goals. This approach allows clients to see progress while still supporting their mental well-being and quality of life.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that Raynebow Nutrition is rooted in integrity and honesty. It is a brand built on the belief that everyone deserves access to supportive, realistic nutrition guidance to empower, rather than overwhelm. I want readers to know that Raynebow Nutrition is a safe, supportive space for anyone looking to care for their health in a balanced, sustainable, and informed way.
Now switching gears to my UGC creator space. My UGC business is rooted in storytelling and *very* real life. I create content that feels natural, relatable, and easy for people to see themselves in. I work primarily with lifestyle and wellness brands, helping to communicate their message in a way that feels genuine and approachable, rather than scripted or overly polished.
I am known for creating content that builds trust. I focus on showing products and services in everyday moments, which helps audiences connect and engage more naturally. I am intentional about creating content that feels honest while still supporting a brand’s goals. I want others to know that my UGC work is about creating content that feels real, and meaningful. Most importantly, I create content that reflects how people actually live, not how ads traditionally portray them.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I’ve learned finding a mentor or building a network is all about building real relationships. I’m not afraid to ask anybody anything. Worst case scenario, they don’t answer you. Best case scenario, they DO answer you, and you gain knowledge about whatever it is you’re trying to pursue. I hope people feel that way with me as well. Anyone is able to ask me any question about what I’m doing and how I got here. We all start somewhere, and I’d love to be that beacon of light for someone else.
Networking works best for me when it’s natural. I focus on genuine curiosity and showing up consistently. I have found the people who become the most influential in your journey, are those who you engage with over a longer period of time; rather than the ones that you meet up with once. Ultimately, it is about giving as much as you take. Sharing ideas, feedback, or connections whenever I can. Reminds me of the quote I love “if you want a village behind you, you need to be a villager”.
