Daily Inspiration: Meet Bonnie Hotman Pehl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Hotman Pehl.

Hi Bonnie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Since opening its doors in 2004, ADC has been committed to providing the absolute best dance training in
East Texas. While providing excellence is what we do, our true mission is to cultivate amazing humans. Our
goal is to help raise students with all the confidence, passions, skills and values in order to become the most
hard working, loving, caring, encouraging, and motivated humans, ready to take on the world. Whether our
kids leave us to become professional dancers, nurses, teachers, or engineers, they will learn essential life
lessons through their dance education at ADC. Our mission is to raise confident, strong, independent,
resilient humans who are loving, bold, and thoughtful. Human- Artist- Dancer. ADC trains our students in that
order- becoming the very best human they can be, then finding their voice and the beautiful unique artist they
are, which will then pour into their dancing. Helping students find their voice, who they were uniquely and
beautifully made by God to be, and allowing them the freedom to love themselves, is what we strive to ensure
for every single student.
ADC has been dedicated to providing Tyler with cutting edge dance training in a family-friendly and
professional environment. Artistic Dance Concepts is committed to giving its students the highest level of
training. We want to open the child’s mind about the world of dance and to explore the possibilities within.
Dancing does not stop at the end of high school, but only begins as a new chapter. ADC challenges its
students to make the most of their dance education and to never stop the ongoing learning process while
achieving their dreams.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was never easy-NOT AT ALL- Being in a small town- it has been a 22yr struggle to show Tyler what dance COULD be, not just what it is in this little town. It has been my mission to provide the same level of excellence for students that they could receive in any metropolitan city. Educating on the vast would have dance and that it doesn’t fit in one tiny box, but in a huge array of styles, ideas, and textures. The first several years, I was called, “the weird studio”….. because we wanted to create ART rather than conventional “drill” style dance that the town was accustomed to. Slowly through the years, we began to have the perfect people seek us out for wanting exactly what we give- that extra push and that opportunity for growth and a true future in dance.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
ADC PAC specializes in individualized programs set up to accommodate each and every dancer. Through the years we have found that a one size fits all program is simply outdated. When you can customize anything you want in this day and age, why would you not be able to do the same for your dance training. We work with each family on what their financial, time, and mental capacities are for the year, and build a program for their dancer to fit their needs. There are a million possibilities for dancers these days- so many avenues to take- so we help our dancers find what path is right for them and help them to achieve their dreams no matter what they are.
Along with this- we begin our dancers early on creating the artist within- helping them FIND THEIR VOICE and becoming the HUMAN they were born to be. We teach our students how to assist, teach, and choreograph so that we can be building up the next generation.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Dance is truly the greatest GIFT we have on earth. I am hopeful that the true ART of dance will continue to evoke emotion and unite people of all. kinds. Dance is the one universal entity that truly brings everyone together. I am a firm believer that dancers have the ability to heal the world through our example of love and acceptance and that everyone belongs!
