Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandan Fagan.
Hi Brandan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Golden Touch Electronic Repair was built at the intersection of technical skill and community service. What started as a strong personal interest in electronics and troubleshooting quickly grew into a hands-on practice of repairing devices for friends, neighbors, and local families who needed affordable, trustworthy solutions.
From the beginning, we focused on doing repairs the right way — not just quick fixes, but accurate diagnostics and component-level solutions. We invested time in learning the science behind the technology, understanding circuitry, and developing the expertise to solve problems others couldn’t. That technical foundation allowed us to restore devices that many people thought were beyond repair, saving customers both money and unnecessary replacements.
As word spread, our small operation naturally expanded. We began serving a broader range of electronics — phones, computers, tablets, and home devices — always maintaining the same standard of precision, honesty, and transparency. Our goal has never been just to “fix electronics,” but to provide dependable service people can rely on when their work, school, or family life depends on that device functioning.
Today, Golden Touch Electronic Repair is proud to be both a skilled technical resource and a trusted part of the community. We combine professional-grade repair knowledge with a service-first mindset, treating every customer with respect and every device with care. Whether it’s a simple screen replacement or a complex board-level repair, we approach each job with the same commitment: expert solutions that keep our community connected.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road — like most small businesses, our growth came with its share of challenges.
In the beginning, one of the biggest struggles was earning trust. Many customers had experienced overpriced repairs or quick fixes that didn’t last, so we had to prove ourselves by consistently delivering honest diagnostics, fair pricing, and quality work. Building that reputation took time and patience, one repair and one relationship at a time.
There were also technical and operational hurdles. Electronics are constantly evolving, which means staying current with new devices, tools, and repair techniques requires continuous learning and investment. Sourcing reliable parts, managing costs, and competing with large retailers that often push replacements instead of repairs added another layer of difficulty.
Like many local businesses, balancing growth with personal service was challenging too. As demand increased, we had to expand carefully without losing the hands-on quality and attention that set us apart in the first place.
But those struggles shaped who we are. They pushed us to sharpen our expertise, strengthen our processes, and double down on customer care. Every obstacle reinforced our commitment to doing things the right way — with skill, integrity, and service to the community.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Golden Touch Electronic Repair is where technical precision meets community service. We specialize in diagnosing and repairing smartphones, laptops, tablets, and everyday electronics — from simple fixes to complex, board-level repairs that many shops won’t even attempt.
What we’re known for is doing the job right the first time. We don’t believe in quick patches or pushing replacements. If a device can be repaired, we’ll find the root cause and fix it properly. That approach saves our customers money, extends the life of their technology, and keeps unnecessary waste out of landfills.
What really sets us apart is trust. We’re transparent, honest, and straightforward about every repair. No upselling, no surprises — just skilled work and clear communication. Our customers know they can walk in with a problem and leave with a solution they can count on.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of our reputation. Most of our growth has come from word of mouth, which tells us we’re doing something right. “Golden Touch” isn’t just a name — it reflects our standard: careful hands, expert knowledge, and service with integrity.
At the end of the day, we’re not just fixing electronics — we’re helping people stay connected to their work, their families, and their lives. That’s what drives everything we do.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I wouldn’t describe us as reckless risk-takers — we’re calculated risk-takers. In electronics repair, precision matters, so we approach business the same way: assess the problem, understand the variables, and then move forward with intention.
That said, starting Golden Touch was a risk in itself. Investing in specialized tools, advanced training, and inventory before we had a steady customer base meant betting on our skills and our work ethic. There’s no guarantee in the early days that the community will show up — you have to earn that trust.
Another major risk was choosing quality over shortcuts. It’s often cheaper and faster to swap parts or push replacements, but we made the decision to focus on deeper diagnostics and component-level repairs. That takes more time, more expertise, and more upfront investment. But we believed that doing things the right way would build long-term loyalty — and it has.
Growth has also required risk: expanding services, taking on more complex repairs, and scaling operations without sacrificing the personal, community feel that defines us. Every step forward meant stepping outside our comfort zone while protecting our standards.
My perspective on risk is simple: if it aligns with your values and improves how you serve people, it’s worth taking. The biggest risk isn’t trying something new — it’s staying stagnant. For us, smart risks have always led to better skills, stronger relationships, and a more trusted business.
