Today we’d like to introduce you to Izzy Roscoe.
Hi Izzy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Creativity has been woven into my story for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was found drawing or painting something, dancing, playing music, and when I got my first phone I was the friend who documented EVERYTHING. I always felt the little moments in my day should be captured, because I knew when I looked back one day I would be taken back to that very moment. By a simple photo, I could truly relive that point in time – happy or sad. What started as simply a part of me, quickly grew into something bigger—a calling to preserve memories for others in their truest, most authentic form. I started this little business as something fun to do in high school when my parents gifted me my first camera. After my 10-year dance career came to an unexpected end, photography became a way to channel my creativity and express myself in a new, meaningful way. Though i’d always loved photography, I never had the opportunity to focus on it 100% – it was always something I did on the side. Thankfully, in late 2024, I felt a clear calling from the Lord to step out in faith and pour my heart into this business—to steward the gifts He’s given me not just well, but with purpose for His Kingdom. I immediately quit my 9-5 corporate job and took the plunge in making this passion my full time business. Going full-time was a leap of faith and one of the greatest blessings I’ve ever received. Every session allows me to connect with incredible people, learn their unique stories, and play a small role in capturing moments that will be cherished for years to come. I’m always looking for new ways to grow – both as a photographer and in my personal life. It’s an honor to freeze time through my lens and create something lasting—something meaningful.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I feel as though my photography journey has been a long one. I never took a photography class and I didn’t have anyone that could mentor me or that I could learn from. Everything I do and know now about photography, cameras, editing, and running a business – I have truly learned on my own. While it’s been a beautiful way to grow and learn every day, it’s made the journey a long one with me making mistakes along the way. There have been countless nights where I’ve stayed up late, watching YouTube videos, trying to figure out how to set up your flash or how to clear space on my computer – little things that I’ve had to figure out myself. With that, I am very proud of what I’ve built over the past few years on my own. It’s an honor that what started as a hobby is now my main source of income. Although I wish I learned some things about photography quicker, I don’t regret anything about my journey – because it got me here!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a documentary/lifestyle photographer. I don’t just do one type of session – I like to do them all. I mainly focus on weddings, engagements, senior photos, families, couples, branding, graduation, etc. I am most known for my senior photography work as that is the majority of my clientele. I’m most proud of the way that I document a session – I do a variety of posed photos but also ones that have movement. I like to capture the subject that’s there rather than make them look like something they’re not. I love that I take the time to get to know my client’s personality before the session so I can best prepare the types of photos I’m going to take so that each session feels unique to the client. What sets me apart from others is probably my delivery, I deliver a large amount of photos which not every photographer does. I believe my clients are investing a lot into their session and they deserve to have as many photos as I can give them. I edit as many as I can and let them decide on their favorites but they own all of the photos. I won’t compromise on this because I love giving them back a huge gallery for them to look at and remember forever!
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is pursuing your dream. Whether is looks like what you had planned or not – the outcome isn’t success to me, it’s the act of pursuing it that shows success is already won.
