Inspiring Conversations with Alexa Torres of The Reformer Room Pilates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Torres.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The decision to open our Pilates studio came from thoughtful reflection on the fitness and wellness space as a whole and the kind of experience we personally longed to see more of. In a growing industry, we saw an opportunity to build something deeply rooted in authenticity, connection, and intention.

For us, Pilates is about more than movement, it’s about meaning. Those 50 minutes on the reformer often represent the only uninterrupted time someone has in their entire day to focus on themselves. We recognize how sacred that time can be. We believe every person who walks through our doors deserves to feel welcomed, supported, and seen exactly as they are.

Our studio was created with depth and purpose at its core. We are intentional about cultivating genuine relationships, fostering an encouraging environment, and creating a space where clients feel both challenged and at ease. We want our reformers to be a place where strength is built not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

As we prepare for opening day, we continually ask ourselves how we can elevate even the smallest details to enhance our clients’ experience. Opening a business especially in a competitive Pilates market comes with its challenges. But we truly believe that if we create an environment where people feel inspired to spend their time, invest in themselves, and grow in community, every challenge will be worth it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road and I think that’s true for anyone building something meaningful. One of the biggest struggles wasn’t external, it was internal. Doubt and comparison can be real thieves of joy, especially as a business owner. When this vision first planted in my heart, I was protective of it because I didn’t want outside doubt to shake my belief in what I was trying to build. Looking back, most of the resistance I faced was my own fear and self doubts
There was a season of constantly questioning the ‘what ifs’ and that can easily lead to self-sabotage if you let it. Learning to move through that fear instead of being controlled by it was a turning point. I had to choose to focus on the purpose behind the dream and commit to doing it well, rather than comparing my journey to anyone else’s. Comparison really does steal joy, and once I stopped measuring myself against others, I was able to grow with more clarity and confidence.
I’m incredibly grateful that I didn’t walk through that season alone. I have a strong support system that encourages me to keep going, and my parents, who are business owners themselves, have been invaluable mentors. Their guidance and belief in me helped me push through the challenges that naturally come with starting something new.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that fear is a normal part of the process but it doesn’t have to define the outcome. When you feel called to pursue a vision, staying grounded in your values, trusting the process, and refusing to let doubt take the lead makes all the difference.

We’ve been impressed with The Reformer Room Pilates, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re a reformer Pilates studio built around intentional movement, education, and genuine community. Pilates is a rapidly growing industry, and we truly believe there’s room for everyone. When we decided to build our studio in Dallas, we wanted to create more than just a beautiful workout space and wanted to fill a gap we had personally experienced after years in Pilates. Many people are moving without fully understanding their bodies, the purpose behind the exercises, or how Pilates strengthens muscles closest to the joints and even supports rehabilitation. Being educated in the pilates community is a big part of what we believe in because we want clients to leave feeling not only stronger, but understanding the ‘why’ behind their movement so they feel confident and knowledgeable about what their bodies are doing.
While we are an aesthetic boutique fitness studio and intentionally designed the space to be visually appealing, we want to be known for much more than how it looks. The goal is for people to walk in because it catches their eye but stay because of the environment we’ve built. We’re deeply intentional in how we welcome people, how we care for our instructors, and how we support clients from all walks of life. Every person who comes through our doors should feel seen, valued, and heard. That sense of belonging is what truly defines our studio.
Even though working out on a reformer can feel like a luxury experience, we want Pilates to feel approachable. We offer a variety of class packs and memberships so people who are curious, cross train, or just getting started have options that fit their needs. We’re especially proud to offer beginner reformer classes. So many people have shared that they’ve wanted to try Pilates but felt intimidated after being placed in advanced classes without understanding the springs, the carriage, or the purpose behind the movements. We believe learning the ‘why’ matters. Our beginner classes create a supportive foundation so clients feel empowered, not overwhelmed.
What we’re most proud of brand wise is the culture we’re building. Rooted in care, integrity, and intentionality. We want readers to know that stepping into our studio means stepping into a community where movement is purposeful, education is valued, and people come first.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as building something that genuinely serves people and reflects strong values, integrity, consistency, and care for others. Success isn’t just measured in numbers or growth; it’s about creating an environment where people feel supported, encouraged, and better when they leave than when they walked in. If my studio positively impacts our clients, provides meaningful work for instructors, and is run with honesty and intention, that’s success to me.
