Today we’d like to introduce you to Gage Dunmire.
Hi Gage, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In the beginning it started as an idea on a road trip heading back home. We faced hardships in medical issues as my grandfather was a truck driver struggling with back issues and needing income before getting off the road to support his family. In the same week that we started the idea my grandmother hurt her back as well while being a bus driver requiring both to have back surgery. Thankfully in the end everything turned out well and we got the idea going. We started by looking around to see how other places in the dog boarding world operated around our area as we had experience watching dogs but never professionally except for me in south Georgia. I wanted to see if anything was different here in Texas before jumping in to it. Eventually we got our research together and put it to use by brainstorming a name and prices. After all that was said and done we opened our doors on June 3rd 2025 (coming up on a year). unfortunately even with no facilities in our community we started slow but we worked hard to put our name out there and show we were dedicated to serving our community. Shortly after that we received our first booking and were ecstatic that we were officially opened. Ever since then we have received many good reviews and have grown wonderfully in our community today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No we have faced some obstacles along the way such as having to replace an entire septic system to allow us capability for housing our capacity. We also struggled financially in the beginning as mentioned before we had no one working at the time due to injuries from past jobs. other than that we are blessed that everything has gone smoothly up to this point.

At Windyoaks we specialize in dog boarding and daycare for all dog breads and sizes. We insure a safe and comfortable environment for all owners and dogs by sanitizing daily from top to bottom. We are very well known for being affordable and loving while providing quality pet care to customers. We are also well known for being one of the only facility that does not charge by weight of the dog or medication disbursement. We are most proud of building it from nothing to something that our community has began to love and support. We are set apart from others because we are very affordable and considerate of our customers needs,
What’s next?
Growing from who we are today to a one stop facility including all dog care needs. currently we are working on becoming obedience dog trainers as well as groomers. In the future we hope to have a bigger facility in order to expand our customer base, capacity, and staff. this would allow job opportunities for our community.

- Doggy day care $15.00 a day
- Bath $10.00
- $5.00 extra if we feed them our food for boarding and daycare stays
