Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Lacquement.
Hi Chris, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
About three years ago I purchased Bones & Bows Pet Grooming with a partner. At the time the business was struggling significantly. Annual sales were under $100,000, the client base was inconsistent, and the physical space itself was deteriorating. The building had deferred maintenance issues and the environment did not reflect the level of care or professionalism we wanted associated with the brand.
We made the decision early on that turning the business around would require more than small adjustments. It meant rebuilding trust with clients, stabilizing staffing, improving service quality, and ultimately relocating to a healthier long-term space that matched our standards. That process took time and investment, but it allowed us to reset the culture and operations from the ground up.
Today Bones & Bows is a completely different business than the one we acquired. It is stable, growing, and aligned with the same relationship-driven, quality-focused approach that defines my other locations. I am especially proud of that turnaround because it reflects one of the things I specialize in most, identifying underperforming grooming businesses and rebuilding them into sustainable, team-centered operations.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. The journey with Bones & Bows in particular was challenging from the start. The business we acquired was underperforming and the facility itself had serious issues. We ultimately had to relocate due to ongoing problems with the building and landlord, which created disruption for both clients and staff and required significant reinvestment.
There were many bumps along the way, from rebuilding a stable team to restoring client trust and reestablishing the brand in a new location. Turnarounds in small service businesses rarely happen quickly, and this one required persistence, patience, and a willingness to keep moving forward despite setbacks.
Today, I am proud to say that Bones & Bows has not only stabilized but has become the premier pet grooming business in Terrell. That outcome makes the difficult road worthwhile. It reflects our commitment to quality, relationships, and long term standards even when the path to get there was far from easy.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I own and operate several pet grooming businesses in North Texas and specialize in building, improving, and scaling grooming operations with a strong focus on quality and team development. My work centers on elevating standards in an industry that is often rushed and undervalued, both in how pets are cared for and how groomers are trained and supported.
I am probably best known for turning struggling grooming businesses into stable, trusted brands and for creating environments where groomers can do skilled work without sacrificing animal welfare or craftsmanship. That approach has allowed me to grow multiple locations and develop teams that stay and advance within the industry.
What I am most proud of is the culture behind the brands. We prioritize safety, relationships, and long term trust over volume, and that shows in our client loyalty and team retention. What sets my businesses apart is that they are built around the belief that humane, relationship driven grooming can also be successful and sustainable.
What matters most to you? Why?
At the end of the day, what matters most to me is my family and my children. I care deeply about my businesses and I work hard to build them the right way, but everything I do is ultimately motivated by being a present, supportive father and creating a stable future for my kids.
My journey in business has always been tied to providing opportunities, security, and an example of perseverance for them. They are the reason I push through challenges and continue building. Success to me is not just measured in growth or revenue, but in the life and legacy I am creating for my family.
