Meet Elizabeth Sanchez of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Sanchez.

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a professional makeup artist and it’s something I absolutely love. I first started getting into makeup when I was sixteen and first applied eyeliner and mascara. I remember before that, my parents would not let me use any type of makeup because they said I was too little and had the rest of my life to use it. I remember after putting that on, it automatically gave me a boost of self esteem. When I turned 19, I became obsessed with makeup. I started creating different makeup looks on myself. Depending on my mood, I started creating colorful and full glam looks on myself. Other times, they were really, simple, minimal makeup looks but still enhancing my face structure. I always had people come up to me, and compliment my makeup looks. My family members started asking me to do their makeup for family events. That’s where I started getting experience on practicing on other faces. My best friend is a makeup artist herself and she gave me the push to get my name out there. By the time I turned 25, I decided to make it into a career. I bought all of the necessary supplies, created my social media pages, made business cards, which was all ALOOOT. It was a very scary but an exciting feeling. I’ve been a professional makeup artist for 3 years now and it’s something I really enjoy and it’s truly my passion. Making other women feel and look beautiful, by just enhancing their features is something I’m so thankful I get to live.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Some days I feel very discourage. As someone who has a full time job, hobbies, and just keeping up with day to day activities sometimes it feels like a lot. When I’m doing makeup, the whole process of getting someone ready is what I truly enjoy. Some weekends, I forget to post my work. The whole editing before/ after videos, can be overwhelming, so that’s where it gets a little hard. I know that if I don’t post, i will not reach clients. So that’s where I struggle the most.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Im a professional makeup artist. I specialize mostly in bridal, editorial, and just birthday makeup. I do a little of everything, basically just what my clients ask for. I’m most proud of juggling a full time job, Pilates, and still being consisted with booking clients to get their makeup done. I know there are so many makeup artists out there and they are all so talented. But what sets me apart from others is that I’m a very versatile woman. I can adapt to any work environment, different race, religion. I truly care about what my client asks for and respect their wishes.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-7 years, I see myself opening up my own beauty salon. A place where women can come, relax and leave the place feeling their most beautiful self. Im a big fashion girly as well, so the salon I plan on opening will not be a basic beauty salon and I do plan on adding my own twist to it..
