Inspiring Conversations with LS Collings of Aspen Leaf Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to LS Collings.

Hi LS, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Acupuncturists look at the whole health map of body, mind, and spirit to see how all aspects of a person’s well-being are connected. This holistic approach is why, for many people, acupuncture can become a starting point for care that honors the whole person.

My trust in acupuncture began with my own healing. At sixteen, I sprained my ankle playing basketball. The injury was mild, but the quick recovery from acupuncture planted a seed that never left me. Growing up nearly 6 feet tall, I was often recruited to play various sports, and I continue to train in different disciplines of martial arts. I’ve found that athletic preparation mirrors the discipline, focus, and respect for the body and energy that are also central to this medicine.

Acupuncture is widely integrated into the training and recovery programs of professional athletes and Olympians. For them, it’s not a “last resort” but a strategic part of performance and recovery. The same principles that keep elite athletes at their best can help everyday people reduce pain, improve sleep, and feel more at ease in their bodies.

In addition to physical recovery, acupuncture supports mental and emotional well-being, which shaped my specialties in orthopedic care and mental health.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Why “Aspen Leaf”?

The name came from a trip to Aspen, where I held a single leaf shimmering like gold in the sunlight. Aspen leaves are unique; their flattened stems allow them to quake and flutter even in the slightest breeze.

The aspen tree itself is extraordinary. The aspen colony in Utah is considered the largest living organism on Earth by mass, not because of a single trunk, but because of its interconnected root system. When one tree is weak, others communicate through that shared network, distributing nutrients where they’re needed.

This model of interconnection reflects how I understand the human body. Rather than isolated parts, it operates as a dynamic network. Nerves, muscles, blood vessels, and connective tissue constantly communicate. A type of connective tissue called fascia, in particular, forms a continuous web throughout the body, meaning dysfunction in one area can influence movement and comfort elsewhere.

A single, precise catalyst, like an acupuncture needle, can help the whole system respond. Pain eases up and movement improves. It can enhance and accelerate your body’s natural healing mechanisms, letting you experience what it’s like when your body communicates with itself more effectively.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Acupuncture naturally attracts people seeking gentle, non-pharmaceutical therapies that support both body and mind for overall harmony. It is considered very safe, and if a rare, minor reaction occurs, it is typically mild and brief.

Aspen Leaf Wellness values and respects conventional medicine, as it is lifesaving and essential. For certain concerns that we often encounter, such as chronic pain, migraines, anxiety, or fertility support, acupuncture can serve as an effective and integrative therapy. We collaborate with other healthcare practitioners whenever it benefits the patient.

We also partner with local businesses and organizations on initiatives such as our quarterly acupuncture sound bath events and community service efforts. Club Shimmerleaf is our Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture and Hair Restoration program, designed to help our patients look and feel their best.

Care at Aspen Leaf is thoughtful and personalized; appointments are unhurried, and every treatment begins with listening. The body wants to heal, but sometimes it just needs the right support.

Aspen Leaf Wellness welcomes new patients. Call 817.988.0230 to schedule your consultation.
