Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Swaim.
Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
JLS Hospitality began when I was 24, during one of the most defining moments of my life. A close friend of mine, Raymond, was diagnosed with a terminal illness and didn’t have health insurance. I felt helpless, but I knew I could gather people to support him. I planned a large fundraiser with a silent auction, donated items, and a raffle at a venue that generously contributed all food and beverage proceeds. That night, we raised nearly $10,000.
It was my very first event, and it changed everything for me. I saw how thoughtful planning and intentional design could mobilize a community and create real impact. From that point on, I knew I didn’t just love events. I LOVED producing experiences with purpose.
As I took on more projects all over Texas, I refined my design perspective, built strong vendor partnerships, and became known for bringing a calm, solutions-driven presence to high-pressure environments. Over time, JLS Hospitality evolved into a full-scale event production and design company specializing in nonprofit galas, luxury weddings, and large-scale celebrations. Being entrusted with events that are my clients’ most special moments has been an incredible milestone and affirmation of our growth.
Today, my vision is simple: Create elevated, immersive experiences that are both beautifully designed and deeply meaningful, in DFW & beyond.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I would never trade the lessons.
In the beginning, I was figuring everything out in real time. I was building relationships, learning how to price my work properly, setting boundaries, and proving myself all at once. I said yes to almost every opportunity because I wanted the experience, and while that helped me grow quickly, it also meant long hours, hard conversations, and learning some things the tough way.
Event production and planning may look beautiful and glamorous on the outside, but behind the scenes it’s fast-paced, high-pressure, and incredibly detail-driven. There have been moments of exhaustion and self-doubt, especially as the events grew larger and the expectations grew higher. Whether you’re producing nonprofit galas, weddings or milestone celebrations, there’s a lot at stake.
Every one of the challenges I experienced sharpened me. I’ve learned how to stay calm when things shift unexpectedly, how to lead with clarity, and how to balance creativity with strategy. The struggles didn’t stop the growth; they created it.
Looking back, the road can’t always be smooth but I’m proud of where it has led me. Every season stretched me into the leader I am today and I wouldn’t change a thing.
We’ve been impressed with JLS Hospitality, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
JLS Hospitality is a full-scale event design and production company focused on creating elevated, intentional experiences that are as meaningful as they are beautiful. We specialize in nonprofit galas, luxury weddings, and celebrations where design, atmosphere, and flawless execution truly matter.
What sets us apart is that we don’t just plan events. We produce experiences. Every detail is intentional, from the lighting and florals to the pacing of the evening. I approach each event as both a creative and a strategist, balancing aesthetics with logistics so our clients can be fully present. Behind the scenes, I’m calm, solutions-driven, and always three steps ahead while still making sure the champagne is poured and the energy in the room feels just right.
I’m most proud of the trust our clients place in us. Whether it’s a milestone event, wedding, or a high-impact nonprofit gala, we understand that these aren’t just events. They’re moments that matter. Our goal is simple: deliver refined, immersive experiences that leave a lasting impression long after the final toast.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I think people are sometimes surprised by two things about me.
First, because my brand is luxury and design-forward, people don’t always realize how emotional I am about what I do. I still tear up at all of my events, during wedding vows, speeches, and powerful fundraising moments. I will never forget that behind every event is a real story, real people, and real impact. That heart is what drives everything for me.
Second, I genuinely love the high-pressure moments. When something unexpected happens on event day, that’s when I feel the most focused. I thrive when problem-solving and remaining calm when everyone else feels the stress. There’s something incredibly rewarding about navigating a challenge so seamlessly that no guest ever knows it happened.
And outside of events, I’m actually pretty laid-back and goofy. I love hosting casual hangs at home, blasting music while cooking or cleaning, and being the first one on the dance floor at a party. At the end of the day, whether it’s a black-tie gala or friends gathered in my kitchen, I just love bringing people together.
