Hi David, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my Texas business in 2016 after moving to the DFW area in 2015. I started with doing handyman work as DW’s Handyman & Home Improvement, but my passion was always in remodeling and additions. I changed my business name to DW’s Remodeling, LLC in 2019 and focused solely on remodeling and let go of the handyman side of my business. This focus has allowed us to win multiple remodeling awards over the years and hone our business to offer the very best services to our customers.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My main struggle has been going from self-performing everything to managing multiple employees and jobs while not working directly on them anymore. The transition to business owner has been a bit of a challenge but I can confidently say that the transition has been a success.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
75% of our work is residential interior. About 15% is additions, siding, exterior painting, pergola’s, and decks. And we do about 10% commercial work. We are mainly a design build firm, meaning we take our customers through the design and selection process all the way to completion of the project. One thing that set us apart from other contractors is we self-perform much of our work. This allows us to control the costs and timeline much better.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Communication. Whether our customers are spending hundred of thousands of dollars or ten thousand dollars, it is their money and their home. They deserve to know what is happening every step of the way.
