Today we’d like to introduce you to Isatu Rogers.
Hi Isatu, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Welcome to Weyone Style! I’m Isatu Rogers, the founder behind this brand, and I am honored to bring a piece of my Freetown, Sierra Leone heritage to Arlington, Texas.
My journey began in 2014 during a visit back home, where I fell in love with the incredible craftsmanship of local artisans and the vibrant beauty of Ankara fashion. I realized that in the States, finding authentic, well-tailored African prints for everyday wear was often difficult and expensive. What started as a personal quest to fill my own closet soon turned into a mission; everywhere I went, people wanted to buy the designs I was wearing. In that moment, I realized we all shared the same struggle.
The desire to redefine the accessibility of African fashion was born—offering a fresh, modern take that honors tradition while embracing contemporary flair. We prioritize quality and the artisanal touch, ensuring each of our styles remains a limited edition. My goal is simple: to provide you with authentic, Africa-inspired fashion made from genuine fabrics at prices everyone can afford. To offer even more variety, we also curate a select few items to broaden our collection.
Community empowerment is the heartbeat of Weyone Style. We actively seek collaborations with bloggers, YouTubers, and creators who share our values. Your support helps us grow this vision, and I sincerely hope you find as much joy in wearing our designs as we did in creating them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our biggest hurdle right now is getting our African‑crafted merchandise across the ocean to the United States. With tariffs soaring to historic levels and inventory demands constantly shifting, the logistics have never felt more daunting—but they also fuel our determination to find smarter, more resilient ways forward.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For thirteen years, I explored almost every corner of the nursing world. From high-pressure shifts to quiet moments with patients, I spent a decade searching for a place where I could truly make a difference.
That journey eventually led me to wound care, where I finally found my calling. To me, there is a quiet wonder in seeing how the body heals itself. A simple dressing change is never just a task; it is a vital step toward renewal and a symbol of recovery. This specialty is now the heart of my career, and I find deep joy in helping people heal, one step at a time.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
So many people have blessed me along the way, from my family members, friends, bloggers, and magazines like Voyage, and I’m truly grateful.
