Conversations with Steven LeFlore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven LeFlore.

Hi Steven, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I always had any eye for photography, but never really had the resources until my parents decided to buy me my first camera in 2020. I already knew exactly the kinds or photos I’d take, what they’d look like, and the feelings I’d want them to invoke when people saw them. I started using my community of friends and family as my muses to perfect my craft and soon after I started receiving requests for bookings. I launched my business and created a website in May 2021 and went to work for magazine company where I worked with high-profile clients and companies such as Google, Burger King, and large Advertising agencies. I often volunteer and provide free professional headshots for inner city high school and college graduating seniors to help prepare them for professional world and offer photography lessons and professional advice.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I worked for a Media/magazine company and it was my all time favorite job because I was able to travel doing what I loved. However, I was laid off because they weren’t able to afford to keep me. I spent a year and a half probing for stable work, but I was able to rely on my LeFlore Visuals freelance work to keep me afloat and use as a reason to keep creating without falling into the depression of not finding work.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional Photographer. I specialize in Portrait, Product, and Fashion photography. I am most proud of my ability to create and hone in on my own style. My love for color theory and combinations really set me apart. My images always have some bright colors that are meant to stand out and catch anyone’s eye.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
People would be surprised to know that although I’m a photographer, I personally hate having my own pictures taken. I am nowhere near photogenic, and I get one good photo of myself every blue moon.
