Life & Work with Sofia Nehal of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofia Nehal.

Hi Sofia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had a natural pull toward creativity and connecting with people. I’m a huge people person and I genuinely love building relationships and bringing others together. I enjoyed capturing moments, telling stories and expressing ideas through content which is why I started my own business “In The Moment By Sofia”. Writing has always been a big part of that too – I love it so much that I even wrote a book called “The Sunflower’s Moon”, while I was in college during COVID-19. (Which is available on Amazon!)

As social media grew rapidly, I realized how powerful it could be not just for creativity, but for building communities and amplifying voices. That led me to start working more intentionally in content creation and social media. I’ve had the opportunity to work with creators and influencers, helping shape their content, grow their platforms and build authentic connections with their audiences.

Over time, I’ve continued to build experience in marketing, social media strategy and community engagement. Today, I’m in a place where I can combine my creativity, writing and people skills to create meaningful content and help brands and communities grow in an authentic way!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes and no! When you’re building your own brand and business – it’s hard finding folks who have the budget to try new things but also with so many marketing agencies – it’s hard to get your name out there. Not all agencies actually want to help your brand grow. Nor do other folks in this industry want you to thrive due to the competition!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I’m most known for and honestly what sets me apart, is my personality. I’m very lively, outgoing, a huge yapper and genuinely love being around people. So working in this industry really naturally translates into my work. People enjoy working with me because I bring good energy, make the process fun and make it comfortable for all. I don’t just create content, I build relationships and that makes a huge difference in the kind of work I’m able to create!

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always very creative, loud and curious. Reading and writing were actually my first introduction to storytelling which is what I loved getting lost in books and then creating my own stories, which really shaped how I think and express ideas today.

I was also the kind of kid who was constantly making things – drawing, crafting and coming up with little creative projects just for fun. I’d use our family camera to record random moments, which looking back was my early way of capturing and telling stories visually and also representing my culture, family and friends.

Personality-wise, I’ve always been outgoing and expressive. I loved being around people and bringing my love into any space I can be at.
