Today we’d like to introduce you to Hakeem Vance.
Hi Hakeem, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m originally from Olive Branch, Mississippi, just outside of Memphis, Tennessee, and my foundation was built through discipline, competition, and adaptability. I earned a football scholarship to Baylor University, where I competed at a high level and was part of a Sugar Bowl–winning team. While there, I studied Film and Digital Media, made the Dean’s List, and worked with the Baylor creative team—an experience that sharpened my understanding of storytelling, audience psychology, and the power of strategic content.
That creative foundation naturally expanded into songwriting. Coming from a background in scriptwriting, I developed a strong sense for narrative, structure, and emotional connection, which translated into music. Today, I have songs that I’ve written available across major streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, along with other outlets—another extension of how I create and distribute content that resonates with audiences.
After graduating, I stepped into the legal field as a paralegal at an immigration law firm, where I developed a different kind of analytical discipline—working in high-stakes environments that required precision, structure, and critical thinking. But over time, I realized my real leverage was in building attention and shaping narratives, not just supporting them.
Now, four years out of college, I’m based in Dallas, Texas, working at the Netflix House while intentionally building a marketing company centered around one core principle: attention is the most valuable currency in today’s economy. Through my work, I’ve generated over 2 million monthly views with an 80% retention rate—metrics that reflect not just reach, but the ability to hold and direct audience focus.
What I’m building goes beyond traditional marketing. I help businesses engineer visibility—turning brands into platforms, content into leverage, and attention into measurable growth. The goal isn’t just to be seen, but to become undeniable in the spaces that matter.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, it was definitely a rocky road. One of my biggest challenges early on was consistency—understanding that talent or opportunity alone isn’t enough without discipline behind it. There were periods where I was still figuring out my direction, trying different paths, and honestly not always executing at the level I knew I was capable of.
Finding my footing took time. I had to learn how to transition from being in structured environments—like sports and school—into creating my own structure in the real world. That shift forced me to develop a different level of accountability, where results were directly tied to how consistent and focused I was day to day.
At the same time, navigating multiple interests—whether it was creative work, professional roles, or building something of my own—came with its own challenges. But looking back, those experiences weren’t setbacks, they were necessary. They helped me refine my focus, sharpen my discipline, and really understand where I create the most value.
So yes, it was a struggle—but it was the kind of struggle that built clarity, not confusion. And once I locked into that, everything started to move with more intention.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At my core, I’m a marketer who studies attention with precision. What I do goes beyond creating content—I focus on understanding how audiences think, what they respond to, and how to consistently hold that attention in a way that drives real results.
I specialize in audience behavior and detail-driven strategy. Every decision I make—whether it’s content, messaging, or positioning—is intentional. I pay close attention to what people are actually engaging with, not just what looks good on the surface. That ability to read patterns, anticipate reactions, and adjust in real time is what allows me to build campaigns and platforms that don’t just reach people, but resonate with them.
What I’m building through my marketing company reflects that same philosophy. It’s centered around helping brands create meaningful visibility—turning attention into something measurable and sustainable. Anyone can generate views, but not everyone can keep people engaged or convert that engagement into growth. That’s where I separate myself.
What I’m most proud of is the level of engagement I’ve been able to achieve—over 2 million monthly views with an 80% retention rate. That tells me I’m not just capturing attention, I’m keeping it, which is ultimately what drives impact.
What sets me apart is simple: I don’t guess. I observe, I analyze, and I execute with intention. I understand that attention is earned, and I’ve built my approach around consistently earning it.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I see the marketing industry becoming increasingly centered around one core asset: attention. As platforms evolve and content becomes more saturated, the ability to not just capture attention—but to hold it and direct it—will be the defining advantage.
We’re moving into a space where audiences are more selective, more aware, and quicker to disengage. That means traditional approaches will continue to lose effectiveness, and brands will have to become more intentional about how they communicate. It won’t be enough to simply show up—you’ll have to resonate immediately and provide value just as quickly.
I also see a shift toward data-driven creativity, where understanding audience behavior is just as important as the content itself. The brands and marketers who win will be the ones who can combine analytics with storytelling—people who know how to read patterns, adapt in real time, and consistently stay ahead of what their audience wants.
Ultimately, attention will become the most valuable currency in the digital economy. And those who know how to earn it, keep it, and convert it into meaningful engagement will define the future of the industry.
