Today we’d like to introduce you to Maxie Graham.
Hi Maxie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been someone with multiple passions, and Minx Monè was born from one of them.
My journey with lashes started back in 2018 when I became obsessed with getting my own lash extensions done. Before that, I wore strip lashes, but I quickly realized I wanted something more effortless and long-lasting. I became fascinated with the beauty of lash extensions and eventually started wondering if I could learn how to do them myself.
In December 2019, I purchased my very first lash kit, and in May 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, I officially took my first lash training course. Just a few weeks later, on June 1, 2020, I launched Minx Monè.
Like many entrepreneurs, I started small. I practiced on friends and family while working out of my dad’s house. From there, I moved my business into my college apartment in Macon while finishing my degree. After graduating from college in 2022 and moving back to Gwinnett County, I continued taking clients from the living room of my apartment before eventually opening my own lash suite in March 2023.
At the same time, I’ve also built a career in education. I’m currently a fifth grade teacher, and for a while I felt like I was living a double life, teaching during the day and lashing at night and on weekends. But over time, I realized those two worlds actually complement each other. Teaching strengthened my patience, communication, and leadership skills, which naturally translated into becoming a better mentor and educator in the beauty industry.
Today, Minx Monè has grown beyond lash appointments. I now offer lash products, digital education resources, and hands-on trainings for aspiring lash artists who want to learn a skill that can create additional income and freedom for their lives.
One of my biggest motivations now is my family. Becoming a wife and mother shifted my perspective and made me even more determined to build something that creates flexibility and generational opportunities.
What started as a beauty service has evolved into something much bigger than I imagined, it’s becoming a brand centered around beauty, education, entrepreneurship, and helping women feel both confident and capable. And honestly, I still feel like I’m just getting started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not, and I think that’s what makes the journey meaningful. From the outside, entrepreneurship can look very glamorous, especially in the beauty industry, but there have been a lot of behind-the-scenes challenges that people don’t always see.
One of my biggest struggles has been balancing multiple roles. I’m a full-time fifth-grade teacher, a wife, and now a mother, while also building Minx Monè. There were seasons where I felt like I was constantly pouring into everyone else, my students, my clients, my family, and trying to figure out how to still pour into my own dreams.
I’ve also experienced the disappointment that comes with trying new things and not immediately seeing results. Last year, I planned multiple lash trainings that didn’t get any sign-ups. That was discouraging because I put a lot of time, energy, and hope into those opportunities. But instead of taking it as a sign to quit, I used it as feedback. It pushed me to become more intentional about my branding, marketing, and understanding how to better communicate my value.
Building a product line has also come with its own learning curve. I had to figure out vendors, packaging, inventory, e-commerce, and how to transition from simply offering a service to building a scalable brand. There have definitely been moments where I questioned whether I was doing enough or moving fast enough.
And honestly, consistency has been a personal challenge too. As someone balancing so many responsibilities, there were times where I knew what I wanted but struggled to show up consistently online or in my business the way I needed to. But every challenge has taught me something. I’ve learned how to pivot, how to be patient, and how to keep showing up even when things don’t go exactly as planned. My faith has also played a huge role in helping me stay grounded during uncertain seasons.
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I truly believe every challenge has prepared me for the bigger vision I’m still building toward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Today, I wear a few different hats through Minx Monè, and that’s what makes my business so special to me.
At the foundation, I’m a lash artist specializing in soft, natural, and customized lash extensions for busy women who want to feel polished without spending a lot of time getting ready every day. A lot of my clients are professionals, moms, entrepreneurs, and women with full schedules who still want to feel confident and put together.
Beyond services, I’ve expanded into education and product development. I offer hands-on lash trainings for aspiring lash artists who want to learn a skill that can create additional income and flexibility in their lives. I also sell lash products and digital educational resources designed to help both beginner and experienced lash artists elevate their craft.
I think what I’m becoming known for is my ability to blend beauty, education, and entrepreneurship in a way that feels relatable. I’m not someone who started with unlimited time or resources, I built this business while being a full-time teacher, and now as a wife and mother, I’m still building. A lot of women connect with that because they see someone who understands what it means to pursue big goals while managing real-life responsibilities.
What I’m most proud of is how much Minx Monè has evolved. What started as me simply wanting to do lashes has grown into a brand with multiple income streams and a bigger mission. I’m proud that I’ve been able to create opportunities not just for myself, but also for other women who want to learn, grow, and build something of their own.
What sets me apart is that I genuinely care about the people I serve. Whether someone is booking a lash appointment, purchasing products, or investing in one of my trainings, I want them to feel supported. My background in education naturally shows up in how I teach, communicate, and mentor others. I don’t just want people to leave feeling beautiful, I want them to leave feeling confident, equipped, and inspired.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I would say resilience has been the most important characteristic in my journey.
Building a business while working full-time in education, navigating major life transitions like marriage and motherhood, and stepping into new areas like product development and education has required me to be incredibly resilient.
There have been moments where things didn’t go the way I planned—whether that was classes not getting sign-ups, struggling with consistency in marketing, or learning the backend side of running an e-commerce business. In those moments, I’ve had to remind myself that setbacks don’t automatically mean failure. Sometimes they’re just redirection or opportunities to improve.
I’ve learned how to pivot instead of quitting. If something isn’t working, I take a step back, learn from it, and try again with a better strategy.
My faith has also played a huge role in that resilience. There were seasons where all I had was the belief that what I’m building has purpose, even when I couldn’t fully see the results yet.
I think resilience is what has allowed me to keep showing up consistently enough to evolve. Minx Monè has gone from a service-based business in my dad’s house to something much bigger because I refused to stop growing through each season.
