Life & Work with Nicolas of Farmers Branch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolas.

Hi Nicolas, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a huge mental health advocate. I have found that through art and painting I can channel my energy in a way that is empowering and therapeutic. I hope that I am able to create pieces that resonate with others or evoke a feeling of familiarity.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, there are moments where I feel like what I’m doing doesn’t really matter or I’m not good enough. I remind myself that at the end of the day art is therapeutic and if it evokes something in at least one person then I know I’m on the right path

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do both mixed media with chalk and pen and abstract works with acrylic on canvas. I am proud of my abstract works and I believe my personal touch creates something that stands out.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as a lease. It may be easy for some to reach success but then the rent is due each day to maintain that success. It means putting in the effort regardless of whether you get any attention or whether anyone comments on it, be it negative or positive.
