Today we’d like to introduce you to Amir Rahimi.
Amir, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a Hip Hop collector from Los Angeles, California. I am 33-years old, and purchased my first CD in middle school. I got into Hip Hop after my friend burned me Tupac’s “Me Against The World” on CD. Since that moment, I was hooked. I slowly started to purchase music since then, at the height of the downloading era. I started believe you should support artists, and not to download for the sake of convenience. I started my Instagram account, @rappinandsnackin, in the early 2010’s and gained popularity through my posts about my collection. I also have a YouTube account and TikTok under the same name.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I do this out of love, so nothing smooth or rough about it. I have a full-time job, so posting about Hip Hop music and food is fun for me. It is a lot of work, but still it is a hobby at the end of the day. The largest struggles would be posting all the time, as taking photos, videos, and editing it all by myself can be a bit taxing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work in the medical device industry, but this has nothing to do with my creative side. I keep the two lives separated. I realize without my professional career, I would not be able to purchase as much music as I’d like.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Nothing crazy to highlight. I miss the simplicity of life though. Walking everywhere, buying cheap food with my neighborhood friends, having no responsibilities aside from homework and chores.
