Community Highlights: Meet Joy Mpezeni of Pink Girl Teaches

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Mpezeni.

Hi Joy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t start Pink Girl Teaches as a brand, I started it as a response.

A response to surviving narcissistic abuse, identity loss, and the kind of silent warfare that most people don’t even have language for. I was the woman who knew Scripture, who could pray, who could show up strong, and still found herself unraveling internally because trauma doesn’t care how “put together” you look on the outside.

At some point, I had to face a hard truth: healing wasn’t going to come from information alone, it was going to require transformation. So I began doing the work most people avoid. Not just spiritually and emotionally but neurologically and structurally.

I studied patterns, confronted my own survival responses. I rebuilt my identity from the ground up through Scripture, through discipline, and through deep internal work and what I realized is that narcissistic abuse doesn’t just break your heart, it rewires your nervous system, distorts your identity, and conditions you to betray yourself.

That’s when Pink Girl Teaches was born.

Not as a safe, surface-level space but as a place where truth is told boldly, healing is approached holistically, and survivors are equipped to actually rebuild their lives.

Today, my work sits at the intersection of narcissistic abuse recovery, nervous system healing and biblical identity restoration

Through coaching, content, speaking, and experiences like REBUILD, I help people do what I had to do myself: grieve what happened, unlearn what broke them and rebuild from a place that is rooted, regulated, and real.

This was never just about my story, it’s about creating a blueprint for others to find their way back to themselves.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road and I think it’s important to say that plainly.

One of the biggest challenges wasn’t just building a brand, it was rebuilding myself while building it. I was navigating the aftermath of narcissistic abuse, which meant I wasn’t just dealing with emotions. I was dealing with a nervous system that had been conditioned for survival. That shows up as overworking, second-guessing yourself, burnout, and at times, shrinking your voice to avoid conflict.

So while I was called to speak boldly, I had to actively unlearn the very patterns that once kept me safe but were now keeping me stuck.

Another challenge was breaking through the noise.

The space is filled with surface-level advice, “just leave,” “just heal,” “just move on”and I knew from experience that it’s not that simple. So I had to stand firm in delivering a message that goes deeper, even when it challenged people or didn’t fit neatly into what was trending.

There’s also the reality of building something with integrity.

I’ve had to make decisions that weren’t always the fastest or most profitable, but were aligned with the kind of impact I’m called to have. That requires discipline, patience, and a willingness to grow in real time.

But if I’m honest, the greatest challenge has been this: learning how to feel safe in the very life I prayed for. Because when you’ve lived in survival mode, peace can feel unfamiliar, stability can feel uncomfortable and success can trigger the same patterns you thought you left behind.

So the work didn’t stop once things started growing, it required a deeper level of healing, regulation, and surrender but that’s also what makes the work I do now so effective.

I don’t just teach from theory, I teach from what I’ve had to overcome, confront, and rebuild in real time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the founder of Pink Girl Teaches, a coaching and consulting platform rooted in helping individuals rebuild their lives after narcissistic abuse.

My work sits at the intersection of trauma recovery, nervous system regulation, and biblical identity restoration. I serve men and women who are navigating the aftermath of emotionally and psychologically destructive relationships and are ready to move beyond survival into true transformation.

Through coaching, digital content, speaking engagements, and live experiences such as REBUILD, I equip people with both the spiritual and practical tools necessary to heal deeply and rebuild intentionally.

What makes my work distinct is that I don’t approach healing as a one-dimensional process. I address the patterns that narcissistic abuse creates, how it impacts identity, decision-making, and the nervous system, while anchoring the work in Scripture and sustainable transformation.

In addition to my coaching practice, I am an author, speaker, and content creator, using multiple platforms to educate, challenge, and guide individuals through the process of reclaiming their voice and rebuilding their lives.

At its core, my work is about helping people move from survival to stability, and from stability to wholeness.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are several ways to work with me, depending on where someone is in their healing and rebuilding journey.

I offer coaching and consulting for individuals who are ready to do the deeper work of recovering from narcissistic abuse and rebuilding their identity with intention. For those looking for structured guidance, I provide digital resources, teachings, and tools that focus on nervous system regulation, trauma recovery, and biblical identity restoration.

I also host live and virtual experiences, including REBUILD, where individuals can engage in immersive, transformative work within a community setting.

For organizations, churches, and platforms, I am available for speaking engagements and collaborations centered on topics such as narcissistic abuse recovery, emotional and spiritual healing, and identity reconstruction.

Those who want to stay connected and supported can engage through my content across social platforms, where I consistently teach, equip, and challenge individuals in their healing journey.

Ultimately, whether through coaching, content, or collaboration, my goal is to provide people with the tools and truth necessary to not just heal but to rebuild their lives from the inside out.
