Today we’d like to introduce you to David Ferguson.
David, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well it’s kind of a Rags to Riches story, but not exactly. Mines more like an addict/alcoholic to a recovered man of Faith !
As an artist starting out with high aspirations, I fell short each and every time I was blessed to get in a tattoo shop. My addiction would creep up on me and before long I was kicked out of the shop. Numerous times this had been my story !
Then one day I had reached a state of hopelessness. My body couldn’t take it anymore, my mind was becoming elusive, never being able to keep on track. To make this short and sweet I surrendered to God and he provided a way out . He directed me to the Dallas 24 hr club. There I found a recovery program of DAA. ( Drug Addicts Anonymous). I decided to listen to 12 suggestions out of the big book of AA and immediately turned my will and life over to the care of God. From that point he has blessed me beyond anything I’ll ever deserved. His Grace has positioned me into a wonderful shop around people like David Buckingham, Craig Ellis and wife JoJo, so I can make a living at what God has given me a gift to do.
He also blessed me with a lady (fiancé,Tiffany) I can continue this journey with by helping other addicts find freedom from their addiction .
I love this life he has given me !!!!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My addiction would not allow for an easy road. I couldn’t get out of my own way long enough for God to produce the miracles he had planned for me!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I get to draw on people for a living as will as pierce. I love the art of realism but also like the other avenues tattooing can bring to the table. Traditional and Neo-traditional to name a few. I want to grow enough to never feel the need to pass the client to another artist.
I think I’m set apart only by my drive to get better and hone the gift of my craft.
What I’m most proud of beyond anything is the opportunity ! And the fact God has given it to me again.
What makes you happy?
Getting to see an addict that has been in the dark for so long come into the light! Because I’ve been there and I want to love them like someone loved me, God !
