Meet Ashley Lott of Bridge to Healing Counseling Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Lott.

Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From a young age, I knew my life’s work would center around helping others. As an eight‑year‑old, I imagined becoming a lawyer, and that passion carried me into a Law Magnet high school where I became deeply interested in criminal justice. During that time, I discovered the role of a Guardian Ad Litem, and something about advocating for children felt deeply aligned with who I was becoming.

As I explored the path toward that career, I found myself drawn to counseling—a field that would allow me not only to support children, but to walk alongside entire family systems. Growing up in Oak Cliff, I witnessed suffering, instability, and generational patterns that didn’t sit right with me, even as a child. I knew there had to be another way for families to live, connect, and heal.

That belief guided me through earning my bachelor’s and master’s degrees and into a variety of early professional experiences that shaped my clinical voice. Today, as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am grateful to fulfill the promise I made to myself long ago: to help others move toward healthier, more empowered lives.

I believe my effectiveness as a therapist comes not only from my training, but from the obstacles and hardships I’ve personally overcome. Those experiences allow me to meet each client with empathy, authenticity, and a deep understanding of what it means to heal.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are moments when I wish my path had been smoother, but as I grow older, I’ve come to understand that I wouldn’t be the professional I am today without the winding, difficult road that shaped me. My journey included deeply personal challenges—experiences that, at times, made me question whether I should pause my dreams or walk away from them altogether.

During many of these difficult seasons, I was also moving from state to state due to my husband’s military career. Each move meant starting over, rebuilding connections, and in some cases, repeating clinical hours I had already completed. There were moments when the setbacks felt defeating, and I wondered if it would be easier to choose a different path.

Yet every obstacle strengthened my commitment to this work. Those experiences taught me perseverance, empathy, and humility—qualities that now allow me to sit with clients in their own moments of uncertainty and remind them that healing is still possible, even when the road is anything but straight.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Who else deserves credit in your story?
First and foremost, I give all credit to God. He entrusted me with this gift and placed this mission on my heart, and I am humbled to carry it out each day. I also owe deep gratitude to my husband, who has been one of my greatest encouragers. He believed in my ability to build my own practice even when I doubted myself, and he pushed me forward during seasons when I felt tired or discouraged.
