Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Minton.
Hi Lauren, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been drawn to the beauty world, even as a little girl. I was the kid turning my bedroom into a “salon. As a teen, I was recruiting my sisters and friends as very willing (and sometimes very unfortunate) clients. Let’s just say a few of them survived some questionable hairstyles while I was “perfecting my craft.”
What started as childhood creativity turned into my first real career steps in beauty, working in makeup at both Ulta Beauty and Sephora. Being surrounded by artistry every day made me realize how much I loved helping people feel confident.
I tried the traditional college route, but it never felt like me. I quickly realized I was more inspired standing behind a beauty chair than sitting in a classroom. Hair was the one thing that kept pulling me back in, and once I fully committed to it, everything clicked. What started as playing salon as a little girl became the career I genuinely feel like I was meant for.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely hasn’t always been easy. It took a lot of time and patient to build a career and master a niche. I was drawn to blondes and later on, extensions but there were multiple bumps along the road. Not always having a steady clientele and at times really difficult to perfect my specialty in an over saturated industry. There are so many amazing stylists in Dallas so it wasn’t an easy task to get my name out there.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a hairstylist that specialized in blondes and extensions. I constantly continue my education so I can learn new ways to perfect blondes.
What matters most to you? Why?
My relationship to my clients is so much deeper than then sitting in my chair a few hours. I have developed such great relationships. Between therapy sessions, laughs, covering eachother and prayer and wisdom, I’m really blessed to have a job where I connect with so many women on a daily basis.
